The use of computerized databases could be a viable alternative in the study of the flora of Mexico. However, very few articles have been published in Spanish about this area of research. This contribution is intended to provide an introduction to the field, with commentaries on the three types of databases most applicable to floristic studies. These are: 1) curatorial databases, concerned with the information from specimen labels; 2) bibliographic databases, containing reference to taxonomic literature, and 3) descriptive databases that permit the automatic production of identification aids of taxonomic descriptions derived from previously stored information.

A review of the role played by the Boletín de la Sociedad Botánica de México reveals it to be one of the leading scientific publications of long standing tradition in the development of plant sciences in Mexico. In its 50 years of existence, the Boletín has published 396 papers in 54 numbers. When these are evaluated, the preference of authors and the inclination of editors in selecting papers are principally directed toward taxonomic topics, followed by floristic studies, ecology, phytogeography and ethnobotany. An analysis of the last decade (beginning with number 44) shows that one genus and 34 species of plants new to science have described in the numerous taxonomic papers, thus contributing to the knowledge of the diversity of the flora of Mexico.

Abstract. The aim of this review was to investigate presentation, aetiology, management, and outcomes of bowel ischaemia following EVAR. We present a case report and searched electronic bibliographic databases to identify published reports of bowel ischaemia following elective infra-renal EVAR not involving hypogastric artery coverage or iliac branch devices. We conducted our review according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement standards. In total, five cohort studies and three case reports were included. These studies detailed some 6,184 infra-renal elective EVARs, without procedure-related occlusion of the hypogastric arteries, performed between 1996 and 2014. Bowel ischaemia in this setting is uncommon with an incidence ranging from 0.5 to 2.8 % and includes a spectrum of severity from mucosal to transmural ischaemia. Due to varying reporting standards, an overall proportion of patients requiring bowel resection could not be ascertained. In the larger series, mortality ranged from 35 to 80 %. Atheroembolization, hypotension, and inferior mesenteric artery occlusion were reported as potential causative factors. Elderly patients and those undergoing prolonged procedures appear at higher risk. Bowel ischaemia is a rare but potentially devastating complication following elective infra-renal EVAR and can occur in the setting of patent mesenteric vessels and hypogastric arteries. Mortality ranges from 35 to 80 %. Further research is required to identify risk factors and establish prophylactic measures in patients that have an increased risk of developing bowel ischaemia after standard infra-renal EVAR.

SummaryAs many bibliographic services in medicine are offered, literature searches in eight databases at DIMDI were performed to find out which database is most important in medicine. The distribution of publications from members of the medical faculty of Frankfurt University was examined. No save prediction is possible as to which database will yield most articles. Overlapping from different databases is often rather low. The selection of an appropriate database mix for sufficient recall and in a cost-effective manner.is a task for an experienced searcher.

Español.  Se dan a conocer nuevas localizaciones y datos corológicos para 98 especies (61 Rhodophyta, 22 Ochrophyta, 15 Chlorophyta) de algas bentónicas marinas recolectadas en el intermareal y submareal de más de 80 localidades de las costas atlánticas y cantábricas de la Península Ibérica. Polysiphonia devoniensis, P. fibrata y Zonaria tournefortii son novedad para Portugal y 5 especies (Bonnemaisonia hamifera, Calosiphonia vermicularis, P. devoniensis, Hincksia intermedia y Derbesia marina stadium Halicystis ovalis) son nuevas citas para Galicia. Paralelamente, se aportan 101 primeras citas provinciales (2 Guipúzcoa, 1 Vizcaya, 8 Cantabria, 5 Asturias, 7 Lugo, 1 A Coruña, 8 Pontevedra, 1 Beira litoral, 15 Estremadura, 20 Alentejo, 25 Algarve y 8 Cádiz) y, además, se dan a conocer 108 segundas citas provinciales. Aunque la flora bentónica marina del Atlántico Peninsular ha sido objeto de numerosos estudios, estos nuevos hallazgos corológicos ponen en evidencia que todavía son necesarios más estudios florísticos en estas costas.English.  In this work, we provide new records and geographical distribution data for 98 seaweeds (61 Rhodophyta, 22 Ochrophyta, 15 Chlorophyta) inhabiting more than 80 sites (intertidal and subtidal) of the Atlantic Iberian Peninsula. Polysiphonia devoniensis, P. fibrata y Zonaria tournefortii are new records for Portugal and 5 species (Bonnemaisonia hamifera, Calosiphonia vermicularis, P. devoniensis, Hincksia intermedia and Derbesia marina stadium Halicystis ovalis) are new records for Galicia. The very recently proposed wB97M(2) empirical double hybrid (with 16 empirical parameters) has the lowest WTMAD2 (weighted mean absolute deviation over GMTKN55) ever reported at 2.19 kcal/mol. However, our xrevDSD-PBEP86-D4 functional reaches a statistically equivalent WTMAD2=2.22 kcal/mol, using just a handful of empirical parameters, and the xrevDOD-PBEP86-D4 functional reaches 2.25 kcal/mol with just opposite-spin MP2 correlation, making it amenable to reduced-scaling algorithms. In general, the D4 empirical dispersion correction is clearly superior to D3BJ. If one eschews dispersion corrections of any kind, noDispSD-SCAN offers a viable alternative. Parametrization over the entire GMTKN55 dataset yields substantial improvement over the small training set previously employed in the DSD papers.
