A new species of plume moths, Calyciphora korbi Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich sp. nov., is described from Kyrgyzstan (Inner Tien-Shan, the mountains Suusamyr Too).

The canaliculatus species group of Stenus (Nestus) is redefined. Four new Palaearctic species of the group are described and illustrated: S. (N.) alopex sp. nov. from the Putorana Highland and Taymyr Peninsula, Russia; S. (N.) canalis sp. nov. from SE Siberia and the Russian Far East; S. (N.) canosus sp. nov. from the Narat Mt Ridge, Chinese Tien Shan; S. (N.) delitor sp. nov. from C & SE Siberia. New distributional data as well as brief analyses of old records for fourteen species described earlier are provided from both Palaearctic and Nearctic material. S. (N.) milleporus Casey, 1884 (= sectilifer Casey, 1884) is revalidated as a species propria. S. (N.) sphaerops Casey, 1884 is redescribed; its aedeagus is figured for the first time; the aedeagus of S. (N.) caseyi Puthz, 1972 as well as aedeagi of eight previously described Palaearctic species are illustrated anew. A key for the identification of all the known Palaearctic species of the group is given. A morphology and ecology based analysis of the main evolutionary trends within the group is provided. A lectotype is designated for S. (N.) melanopus Marsham, 1802; its Siberian and NE European records are supposed to be erroneous; the monotypic melanopus species group is erected.

The name Athaumasta was introduced by Hampson (1906) as replacement for Thaumasta Staudinger, 1871 (nec. Gistl). Athaumasta is a small Bryophilinae genus found in southern Siberia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russian Far East, Korea and China. By the male genitalia structure Athaumasta is very close to Victrix Staudinger and Bryophila Treitschke, but characteristic forewing pattern, strong pectinate of male antennae, narrow and dorso-lateral flattened uncus, and distally narrowed and apically pointed valvae are characteristic for the genus. The genus includes six described species, one of which has recently been described (Volynkin 2012), and many species are still undescribed. The species cortex Alphéraky, 1887 was incorrectly included to Athaumasta by Poole (1989), and transferred to the genus Parvispinia Babics, Kononenko & Saldaitis by Babics et al. (2012). The species miltina Püngeler, 1902 distributed in the Tien Shan mountain massif (Püngeler 1902; Lehmann & Bergmann 2005) has appearance very close to Athaumasta, but male antennae much less pectinate (Fig. 12). It was treated by Poole (1989) and Lehmann & Bergmann (2005) as a member of the genus Oederemia Hampson (= Victrix), but was not mentioned by Fibiger et al. (2009) in the checklist of Palaearctic taxa of the genus. The male genitalia of miltina (Fig. 22) differ from those of all other Athaumasta by the broad uncus, apically broadened and rounded valvae, and presence of a torn in cornutus in vesica, whereas in Athaumasta uncus is narrow, valvae are apically narrowed and pointed, cornutus is plate-like or absent. By the male genitalia structure, miltina resembles the genus Victrix, subgenus Rasihia Koҫak, but have broader uncus and strongly different appearance. Thus, the genus position of miltina is unclear. Here we treated miltina as a member of Athaumasta (sensu lato), but its genus position will be revised later in a further revision of Eurasiatic Bryophilinae.

An illustrated description of Raveniola mikhailovi sp. n. from Chatkal Mt. Ridge is provided. The new taxon resembles R. virgata (Simon, 1891); it differs from the latter species in having a somewhat more compact eye group, combined with a narrower tegulum and a relatively longer embolus, and with noticeably longer inner stalks of the spermathecae.

A new species of Allium from Western Tien Shan (Kirghizia) is described, Allium sarychelekense Krassovsk., closely related to A. arkitense R. M. Fritsch. The both taxa are endemic to the eastern part of the Fergana Valley, and are affi liated to the section Acmopetala R. M. Fritsch, subgen. Melanocrommyum (Webb et Berthel.) Rouy.

Eudiaphora Dubatolov, 1990 was described as a monotypic genus for E. turensis (Erschoff, 1874) with three subspecies. Here, we describe one more subspecies, E. turensis nozimdjoni Spitsyn, Bolotov & Kondakov ssp. nov. from the Pamir Mountains (Tajikistan). Furthermore, we found an additional species in this genus, E. tienshanensis Spitsyn, Bolotov & Kondakov sp. nov. from the Tien-Shan Mountains (Kyrgyzstan). The valid status of both novel taxa is confirmed using a phylogenetic approach. An identification key for all taxa in this genus is provided.

On the base of a critical review of the material kept in the Herbarium of the Laboratory of Flora, Institute for Biology and Pedology, National Aсademy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic (FRU), a synopsis of the genus Melica L. (Poaceae) in the flora of the Kyrgyz Republic (further KR) with a key for the species identification and short nomenclatural citations is presented. Nine species belonging to 2 sections are recognized in KR. A new species Melica chatkalica Lazkov et Usupbaev is described, differential characters from related species are given. M. schafkatii Bondarenko is newly reported for KR, and M. nutans L. for the Western Tien Shan. The hybrid origin of M. chatkalica and M. schafkatii is proposed. Maps of distribution of the species growing in KR and list of studied specimens are provided.

During floristic surveys in the southwestern borders of the Hissar Mountains (Pamir-Alai system, Central Asia), 2011–2013, we collected one unidentified species from genus Iris Linnaeus (1753: 38) subgenus Scorpiris, section Juno (Trattinnick 1817: 135) Bentham ex Bentham & Hooker (1883: 687). These plants were introduced into the Tashkent Botanical Garden, where we carefully studied them in the Iris living collection. We conclude that the new species is related to an alliance that contains Iris parvula (Vvedensky 1963: 425) Hall & Seisums (2011: 300). This group consists primarily of high-mountain species, the distribution of which is limited to the ridges of the Pamir-Alai and western Tien-Shan (Central Asia)—Iris parvula, I. linifolia (Regel 1935: 152) Fedtschenko (1905: 159), I. tadshikorum (Vvedensky 1935: 152) Vvedensky (1935: 563) and I. narynensis Fedtschenko (1905: 159; Ikinci et al., 2011). According to our studies, this group could be extended by the inclusion of Iris vvedenskyi Nevski (1932: 323) and Juno linifoliiformis Khalkuziev (1985: 1663), here transferred to Iris. Iris vvedenskyi is primarily documented for the Kugi-Tang Range (western Pamir-Alai), and its main distribution is in Turkmenistan. The lesser-known I. linifoliiformis grows on northern slopes of the Turkestan and Alai Ridges (Khalkuziev, 1985). The world checklist of selected plant families (2013) placed J. linifoliiformis in synonymy with I. linifolia. Vvedensky (1971), in the note to Iris linifolia, wrote that plants from the Alai Ridge differ from I. linifolia and should be recognized as a new species, between typical I. linifolia and northern forms of I. tadshikorum Vved. Later, a researcher of the flora of Alai Ridge, Khalkuziev (1985), described these plants as Juno linifoliiformis Khalkusiev (1985: 1663) and distinguished them from I. linifolia by their deeply dissected (1.5–2.0 mm long) crests and narrower leaves not exceeding flowers.
