Eggshells and rice husk, two types of notable agricultural waste were used as bioadsorbent to remove Methylene Blue dye (MBD) in aqueous solution. This study was to investigate the performance of these two bioadsorbents in removing MBD. The removal percentage, adsorption capacity, and porosity characterization were examined. The method applied was a physical filtration. UV-VIS Spectrophotometer was used to determine the efficiency of the bioadsorbents in MBD adsorption. The highest removal percentage at the most concentrated MBD were 51% and 98% for eggshells and rice husks respectively. Meanwhile the characterization of rice husks pore size and volume proves that higher adsorptivity towards dye compares to eggshells porosity. It was concluded that the eggshells and rice husks bioadsorbents was successful to treat industrial textile wastewater with rice husks as the most efficient bioadsorbent in removing MBD.

<p>In this paper, the low-cost and practical adsorption for removing methylene blue (MB) dye has been developed by using recoverable natural zeolite that was magnetized with Fe3O4. The magnetization was conducted by co-precipitation technique. The adsorbents obtained from the magnetization were characterized by XRD, FTIR, surface area analyzer and turbidity meter machines. The MB adsorption on the recoverable adsorbent was performed by batch experiment. The effect of Fe3O4 fraction on adsorbent characters, recoverability, and adsorption ability was evaluated. The adsorption kinetic and isotherm were also determined. The research results attributed that recoverable zeolite/Fe3O4 adsorbent has been successfully produced. It was found that the increase of Fe3O4 fraction in the adsorbent, has improved the recoverability, but in the same time, it caused the adsorption decreased. The fraction of Fe3O4 as much 33.30%w displayed compromisingly good capacity and recoverability. The maximum MB dye adsorption was reached by a condition of 0.25 g L-1 of the adsorbent dose, pH 8, and in 60 mins of the contact time The adsorption kinetic well fitted with pseudo second-order with the adsorption rate of 0.0238 mg g-1 min-1. The adsorption strongly agreed with the Langmuir isotherm with adsorption capacity of 32.258 mg g-1 .</p>

Abstract This paper presents a study into dynamic behaviour of the methylene blue adsorption (MB) on activated carbon. Effect of four parameters were studied: effect of the adsorbent dosage, effect of contact time, effect of pH, and effect of the initial concentration of methylene blue. The adsorption kinetic data were modelled using the pseudo-first and pseudo-second orders. Results show that, based on the experimental data, the pseudo-second order could be considered satisfactory. Thermodynamic parameters proved that adsorption of dye was spontaneous owing to increase in temperature and endothermic nature. Taguchi method was applied to determine the optimum conditions for removal of methylene blue by activated carbon. The optimum conditions were found to be pH = 7, contact time 60 min, initial concentration of MB 4 mg/L.
