The choice of optimal control in complex systems involves handling large amounts of information. The database of such a decision-making system has a hierarchical structure. The article describes the principle of filling and updating information when managing a hierarchical database of a complex system in the presence of uncertain factors. Uncertain factors are present in the criteria for the effectiveness of a complex system and in the criteria for its subsystems. The hierarchical structure of the decision-making system has a level of coordination of decisions of local subsystems. Coordination in a complex system is carried out with a step of discreteness. This allows you to use the iterative principle of filling the database and updating it. Uncertainty conditions significantly increase the amount of information processed. As a result, a hierarchical software package for database management is built.

The operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in civil airspace is restricted by the aviation authorities, which require full compliance with regulations that apply for manned aircraft. This paper proposes control algorithms for a collision avoidance system that can be used as an advisory system or a guidance system for UAVs that are flying in civil airspace under visual flight rules. A decision-making system for collision avoidance is developed based on the rules of the air. The proposed architecture of the decision-making system is engineered to be implementable in both manned aircraft and UAVs to perform different tasks ranging from collision detection to a safe avoidance manoeuvre initiation. Avoidance manoeuvres that are compliant with the rules of the air are proposed based on pilot suggestions for a subset of possible collision scenarios. The proposed avoidance manoeuvres are parameterized using a geometric approach. An optimal collision avoidance algorithm is developed for real-time local trajectory planning. Essentially, a finite-horizon optimal control problem is periodically solved in real-time hence updating the aircraft trajectory to avoid obstacles and track a predefined trajectory. The optimal control problem is formulated in output space, and parameterized by using B-splines. Then the optimal designed outputs are mapped into control inputs of the system by using the inverse dynamics of a fixed wing aircraft.

Abstract A prerequisite for the synthesis of composite materials as complex systems is the principles of the control paradigm of Peace and the effectiveness of mathematics (for any reality and any given (not absolute) accuracy, there is a mathematical structure that describes this reality with this accuracy; the converse is also true (homomorphism, arbitrarily close to isomorphism between reality and mathematical structures)).The proposed methodology for managing the identification process (design of composites) includes the process of human choice: the probabilistic nature of the control; the main reason for the inadequacy of a purely analytical research procedure. Here, the optimization of the control of the properties of the composite is carried out experimentally on the model as a result of the approximation of the response function: not the generalized functional is approximated, but the particular criteria of which it consists. The development of composite materials is carried out on the basis of evaluating the parameters of the formation of operational properties. The parameters of each of the kinetic processes of the formation of the physical and mechanical characteristics of the material were taken as particular criteria. Kinetic processes are asymptotic for the composites under study and contain extremum and inflection points. A method is used to approximate multidimensional table-defined functions by generalized polynomials of a particular form. In the parametric identification of kinetic processes, their parameters are considered basic. Approximating models of the main properties are presented. Vector optimization of properties (selection of recipes, technologies and methods of material quality control) is carried out by overcoming ambiguities of goals using linear convolution, introducing benchmarks, building Pareto sets, etc. The expediency of using a systematic approach (the hierarchical structure of properties and the hierarchical structure of the composite proper) to the design of building materials as complex systems is shown. The research results are introduced as prototypes of new identification systems in the development of composite materials with adjustable structure and properties, in contrast to the replication of reference applied developments of identification theory in various industries.

Hierarchical structure is one of the most ubiquitous structures in various networked complex systems. In order to investigate the properties of the hierarchical structure, a deterministic hierarchical network model is first proposed. The statistical properties of the constructed networks are also discussed. The simulation results prove that the artificial networks simultaneously possess the small-world and scale-free properties well. This may be useful in furthering study of the topology properties of the hierarchical networks in real life.

Human beings are considered as the most intelligent species on Earth. The ability to think, to create, to innovate, are the key elements which make humans superior over other existing species on Earth. Machines lack all those elements, although machines are faster than human in aspects like- computing, equating etc. But humans are still more valuable than machines, due to all those previously discussed elements. Various models have been developed in last few years to create models that an think like human beings, but are not completely successful. This paper presents a new theoretical system for learning, memory management and decision making that can be used to develop highly complex systems, and shows the potential to be used for development of systems that can be used to provide the essential features to the machines to act like human beings.

Naturalistic decision making (NDM) has become established as a methodological and theoretical perspective. It describes how practitioners actually make decisions in complex domains. However, NDM theories tend to focus on the human agents in the system. We extend the NDM perspective to include the technological agents in complex systems and introduce the dynamic model of situated cognition. We describe the general characteristics of NDM and the field of situated cognition, and provide a detailed description of our model. We then apply the model to a recent accident in which a US Navy submarine (USS Greeneville) collided with a Japanese fishing vessel ( Ehime Maru). The discussion of the accident illustrates how decisions made are often a result of the interaction between a variety of technological and human agents and how errors introduced into the complex system can propagate through it in unintended ways. We argue that the dynamic model of situated cognition can be used to describe activities in virtually any complex domain.

AbstractThe following paper depicts the history of Saint Simeon Stylites Uniate Parish in Rachanie since it became known in historical sources until 1811- that is the time it ceased to be an independent church unit. The introduction of the article contains the geographical location of the parish, its size and the position within the hierarchical structure of the Church. Having analysed post-visit inspection protocols left by Chelm Bishops, the appearance as well as fittings and ancillary equipment of the church in Rachanie in that particular period are reported. Moreover, the list of 4 local clergymen is recreated and their benefice is determined. As far as possible, both the number of worshipers and the number of Holy Communion receivers is determined.
