In combination with a industrial plant cantilever structure need be increased for meeting the technological requirements,the three kinds of structural design schemes of cantilever are considered, that is the scheme hanging on steel frame of the plant, prestressed steel frame scheme and steel truss scheme. Three kinds of structural form and materials selection are introduced. By finite element software ANSYS three kinds of schemes are analyzed, carrying capacity and deflection of members under load are acquired, by Comparison steel truss scheme is adopted. Carrying capacity and deflection of structure not only meet requirements, but also the construction is easy. This paper provides reference for resolving similar cantileve r problems in engineering.

Lattice light steel frame is a new type of structural system, combining general steel framework which is composed of lattice column and lattice beam with lattice light steel keel of the partitions and floors, the system takes full advantages of both structural systems, with high speed construction, less steel consumption, good earthquake-resistance etc., and possesses good prospects. The paper describes the system construction approach and the characteristics of lattice light steel frame system, and provides a project example of a villa. The design method and calculation model of the project are presented. Calculation results meet the specifications’ requirements, proving the new system can be applied to practical engineering. The paper gives guidance for application and research of this new system.

As a new type of structure system suitable for the realization of building industrialization, assembly structure system is a trend in the development of steel structure engineering. In this paper, a kind of assembly truss beam steel frame system is proposed. The composition of system, the technology characteristic of components and connections are analyzed in detail. Meanwhile some problems need to be solved are also put forward.

Analytical study was conducted to investigate effect of friction dampers on vibration control of steel frame structures. The friction dampers installed in a ten-storey sample frame structure have two levels of fictional resistances. Unlike the conventional friction damper which has one frictional resistance, the friction dampers with variable resistances (VRFD) can apply two levels of frictional resistances, the lower resistance of which is attended to absorb the seismic energy by a moderate earthquake or a strong wind, and the higher one of which is expected to dissipate the seismic energy induced by a severe earthquake. The time-historey analytical results of the sample frame have indicated that the VRFD could not only mitigate the seismic response of the frame structure under a moderate earthquake more effectively than the conventional frictional damper, but also provide the same level of damping effect to the structure under severe earthquake as the conventional one.
