Historically, osteomyelitis of the jaw was a common complication of odontogenic infection (infections of the teeth). The term osteomyelitis refers to an inflammation of cortex and medulla of the bone that can develop in the jaw after any infection of the oral cavity. Since the introduction of potent antibiotics, the incidence of osteomyelitis has been dramatically decreasing. This case report describes an interesting presentation of chronic suppurative osteomyelitis of the mandible in a 73 years old male patient from North Eastern part of India. Investigations revealed chronic osteomyelitis of right ramus and body of mandible. The treatment included a pre surgical course of antibiotics followed by right side hemimandibulectomy and again post-operative antibiotics. The post-operative healing was uneventful. Detailed discussion of etiology, risk factor, symptoms, signs, management and prevention has been done in this case report. We conclude that surgical debridement in addition to empirical antibiotics should be considered as an early approach for treating such cases.

Abstract Introduction: Cerebrovascular disease in childhood is relatively rare. Recently, there has been much interest in homocysteine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, as an important risk factor for vascular diseases including stroke. We report the case of a 13-year-old girl presented with ischemic stroke due to hyperhomocysteinemia. Case report: This case report describes a 13-year-old girl with repeated episodes of hemiplegia due to hyperhomocysteinemia. Conclusion: There are strong clues in favor of a causal relationship between hyperhomocysteinemia and athero-trombotic diseases. Homocysteine levels can be lowered effectively by a combination therapy of folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6.

Cervical spine schwannoma, which is long and entirely intracanal, is rare to be found. Its rarity and atypical feature leads to difficulty in diagnosing and managing cases because of the scarcity of available literature. The surgical removal of this type of schwannomas via multisegment laminectomy is a great challenge because of various risks of postoperative complications. This report describes cervical spine schwannoma that was initially was not suspected as schwannoma and was subject to surgical removal via nine-segment laminectomy. In one year after surgery, motor function returned to normal strength, no new neurological deficits occurred, and no kyphotic deformity, which is a common complication of multisegment laminectomy.

ABSTRACT We report a case of a 15-year-old girl presenting with left lacrimal abscess with chronic osteomyelitis of frontal bone, a rare sequelae, that of lacrimal adenitis. If lacrimal adenitis is left untreated, abscess formation can occur and can also lead to osteomyelitis. If lacrimal adenitis/abscess is diagnosed early in the disease process by understanding typical signs, conservative management can accomplish resolution without the complications and need for surgical exploration and the cosmetic implications of facial surgery.
