Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma is histological variant of juvenile ossifying fibroma, a fibro-osseous tumor of craniofacial bones with benign but potentially aggressive nature. Complete excision of tumor is essential as it is associated with very high recurrence rate. We have reported here a case of juvenile ossifying fibroma- a psammomatoid variety present in right maxilla in a 13-year old male child. Complete excision of tumor was done through intra-oral approach with the 2.5 years of follow up shows no recurrence.Juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma is fibro-osseous tumor of craniofacial bones with benign but potentially aggressive nature. The routine procedure to prepare a Pap smear is done by fixing the slides with 95% ethanol immediately after the sample is taken. This study was performed to determine the alternative method of air-drying and rehydration prior to alcohol fixation instead of conventional method. Paired buccal smears were collected from 50 patients who participated in the study. One set was labeled as (Wet fixed in 95% ethanol) WF and the other one Air-dried fixed (ARF) rehydrated and fixed with coconut oil. The staining quality of the slides was assessed with respect to nuclear details and cytoplasmic details, cytoplasmic staining and background staining. Single blinded study was done. The results were analyzed by Chi square test to compare the defined parameters between the two groups. Air-dried fixed (ARF) slides with coconut oil was significantly better with regard to clearance of background. There was statistically significant difference between the air dried smear rehydrated with coconut oil and normal wet fixed smear. So air dried smear rehydrated with coconut oil can be used as an alternative to wet fixed smear.

Intentional replantation is a procedure in which an intentional tooth extraction is performed followed by reinsertion of the extracted tooth into its own alveolus. In this article, intentional replantation is described and discussed as a treatment approach for failed root canal treatment with broken instrument periapically in mandibular second molar.

The COVID-19 has presented as a worldwide threat to global health. It is highly necessary to study signs and symptoms associated with this infection. This review highlights the role of dental practitioners to diagnose the early signs of oral lesions in COVID-19 infection. They can play an important role in managing pain, giving support to patient and improving the quality of life, by becoming a part of multi-disciplinary team to fight against this global pandemic.

Identification of a person is of paramount importance in a medico-legal investigation. At present more and more people use protecting lipsticks and permanent lipsticks. With these lipsticks a latent lip print is generated by contact with a surface and, like with the latent fingerprints occur, this latent lip print can be developed. This study aims to retrieve latent lip prints from various inanimate surfaces like thermocoal plate, bone china, and glass to compare the efficacy of developers i.e., fingerprint powder, Sudan III, Vermillion, and its comparison with standard lipstick prints. Current research assesses the effectiveness of particular surfaces in the retrieval of lip print in personnel identification. This study included a total of 30 subjects. Latent lip print was developed on the different inanimate surfaces by pressing the lips against the different vehicles. After collecting samples, a camel hair brush was used to retrieve all three chemicals individually by simply tapping on all three surfaces. Application of chemicals was continued until the print became clearly visible for the study. Developed latent lip print was then compared with the visible lip print. Subsequently, a standard lipstick print was developed from the same subject. All the samples were coded and graded according to the patterns suggested in the literature. Discrete (categorical) data were summarized in number and percentage and compared by chi-square (χ2) test. Analyses were performed on SPSS software (Windows version 17.0).: The overall (i.e., total of all three surfaces) favourable outcome was found highest in Fingerprint powder (58.9%) followed by Sudan III (28.9%) and Vermilion (10.0%) the least (Vermilion < Sudan III < Fingerprint powder).Comparing the overall outcomes of three developers, χ2 test showed significantly different and higher favourable outcome in Fingerprint powder as compared to both Sudan III and Vermilion (χ2=92.09, p<0.001) The study found Fingerprint powder the best developer and Thermocol plate the best surface. The findings of this study may be beneficial for investigators.

Squamous cell carcinoma is the most important and the most common malignant mucosal neoplasm of the head and neck accounting for over 90% of all malignancies. Conventional oral Squamous cell carcinoma is frequently present in general cancerous conditions. It is bundled up with six different variants. Histomorphologically every variant shows a unique appearance. This raises an opportunity for the different diagnostic consideration with the precise management decision. All cases of OSCC reported at our institution Dentopath Pathologies Amravati in past two months were scrutinized. Representative sections containing the full thickness of the tumor were used for histopathological grading. The structure and identification of carcinomas were done microscopically by two expert dentopathologist. In the present study, we screened 100 slides of a conventional epithelial cell carcinoma. Amonst which 30 Slides showed the verrucous carcinoma. On 5 slides adenoid squamous cell carcinoma were observed. Incidence of Papillary squamous cell carcinoma and basaloid squamous cell carcinoma was only 1 out of 100 slides each. Whereas, the spindle cell/sarcomatoid carcinoma was observed on 2 slides. Adenosquamous carcinoma is the rarest variant and hence no incidence of this carcinoma were observed in our study. The behavior of the OSCC varies amongst due to the presence of different morphological type of tumor. A few studies on OSCC malignancy grading with different clinical parameters were made. In the present study different types of variants are seen according to their histopathological appearances.Histopathological knowledge is very important for the precise diagnosis. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common neoplasm of oral cavity. However, variants of the same show very less frequency. Hence, it became challenge for the appropriate diagnosis as many times a misdiagnosis affects the course of treatment of the patient

A 12 years 6 months old Indian male presented with a chief complaint of irregular upper and lower front teeth. Patient exhibited a mild convex profile on Class l skeletal base with slightly decreased vertical proportions. This was complicated by severe upper and lower labial segment crowding. Also the molar relationship was half unit class ll bilaterally. Since the patient did not want to go for extraction of premolars, treatment involved use of Pendulum appliance along with upper and lower pre-adjusted edgewise appliance (0.022x0.028” slot) with MBT prescription. Various elastics and overlay wires were used along with proximal stripping for the correction of severe crowding in upper and lower anterior teeth.: Clinically Angle’s Class I occlusion was achieved bilaterally with good intercuspal relationship. Vertical growth continued throughout the treatment.

Corona virus disease was declared as pandemic in 2020. The second wave of covid 19 in India was completely influenced by the fatal complication of covid 19 called Mucormycosis. It was declared as an epidemic in India after 2 wave. The use of Corticosteroids in the management of covid 19 and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus with other systemic illness has shown tremendous immunosuppression which has ultimately caused Mucormycosis. Mucormycosis is rare in mandible. We are presenting a case report with brief discussion of 9 patients having post covid Mucormycosis along with osteomyelitis of the mandible, the rarest form of the post covid infection, which was managed surgically as well as with adjuvant antibacterial and antifungal drugs followed by post-operative prosthetic rehabilitation. This fatal infection has to be kept in mind in covid 19 active cases as well as in recovered patients, especially in those having comorbidities and judicious use of cortico-steroids should be recommended.
