Background: Various efforts are made to maintain and improve the quality of nursing services, one of which is to carry out nursing care according to the standards of nursing practice safely, effectively and ethically. To maintain quality, it is necessary to control nursing care in a directed and planned manner. One of the controls in nursing management is supervision. Purpose: The purpose of this literature study is to identify the effectiveness of the implementation of supervision on the performance of implementing nurses in hospitals. Methods: Database searches used in this literature review are Pubmed, Science Direct and Google Scholar published in 2007-2018. Results: From the six articles used, it was found that supervision had an impact on improving nurses' performance in the form of actions and behaviors that could be measured to maintain and improve the quality of health services for both sick and healthy patients. Other impacts among them commitment, employee attachment, competence and individual quality as well as improving service qualityto them after completing the credentialing process as stated in the Nurse Clinical Assignment Letter. Conclusion: Implementation of supervision motivates nurses to be more attached to work, and has better performance opportunities

Introduction: In nursing practice nurses often show less optimal caring interactions because they have overload tasks. The purpose of this study was to describe the caring interactions between nurses and patients. Methods: This study was a descriptive study with a survey approach. The samples were 89 nurses at the inpatient wards who were recruited using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the Caring Nurse-Patient Interactions (CNPI-23N) tool and analyzed using a univariate analysis presented in the form of the frequency distribution. Results: The results showed that 84.3% of caring interactions between nurses and patients were good, and the remaining 18.7% were adequate. The dimension of comforting care achieved the highest value in which all respondents (100%) were at a good level. Meanwhile, the dimension of humanistic care achieved the lowest value in which 38.2% of respondents were at an adequate level. Conclusion: This study concluded that the caring interactions between nurses and patients had been well implemented. It is expected that the nursing profession and the hospital management maintain the quality of nursing care and increase the knowledge and training.

This article reports on the journey of a child with an inoperable hypothalamic-origin pilocytic astrocytoma causing hydrocephalus, which was refractory to treatment with shunts, and required a new approach. With multidisciplinary support, excellent nursing care and parental education, the child's hydrocephalus was managed long term in the community with bilateral long-tunnelled external ventricular drains (LTEVDs). This article describes the patient's journey and highlights the treatment protocols that were created to achieve this feat. Despite the difficulties in initially setting up these protocols, they proved successful and thus the team managing the patient proposed that LTEVDs are a viable treatment option for children with hydrocephalus in the context of inoperable tumours to help maximise quality of life.

Abstract Background The main objective of this study is to develop a multilevel multi-factor index to assess the quality of life of the Malayali tribal population of India at the household and village levels based on nine domains, namely, Demography, Economy, Health, Human Development, Infrastructure Development, Work Participation, Recreation, Social Capital and Self Perception. An attempt is made to classify the individuals as well as villages by the overall scores of a multi-factor -index within a community which will help policymakers to develop concrete policy recommendations for the improvement of the quality of life of this tribal group. Method Multilevel factor analysis is utilized to determine uncorrelated meaningful factors and their respective weights using Mplus software from the nested dataset consists of values of nine domains of 1096 individuals collected from 19 villages. A multilevel multi-factor index is constructed using the weights of these factors. The qualities of the lives of different households and different villages are assessed using the scores of this index. Results Three different factors are identified at household as well as village levels. The quality of life at Households and Village levels are classified as poor, low, moderate, good, and excellent based on five quintiles of the scores of the multi-factor index, and the contribution of each domain in this classification is ascertained. Discussion This study finds that at household as well as at village levels, the quality of life of the individuals of this tribal population increases with an increase in education, income, and occupation status which make them lead a healthy life and also make them to find time and money to spend on recreation. Infrastructure is not important at the household level but not so at the village level. Conclusion The main purpose of developing this kind of multi-factor index at different levels is to provide a tool for tribal development based on realistic data that can be used to monitor the key factors that encompass the social, health, environmental, and economic dimensions of quality of lives at the household and community levels of these tribal people.
