To achieve continuous frail care in the daily lives of the elderly, we propose AHOBO, a frail care robot for the elderly at home. Two types of support systems by AHOBO were implemented to support the elderly in both physical health and psychological aspects. For physical health frailty care, we focused on blood pressure and developed a support system for blood pressure measurement with AHOBO. For psychological frailty care, we implemented reminiscent coloring with the AHOBO as a recreational activity with the robot. The usability of the system was evaluated based on the assumption of continuous use in daily life. For the support system in blood pressure measurement, we performed a qualitative evaluation using a questionnaire for 16 subjects, including elderly people under blood pressure measurement by the system. The results confirmed that the proposed robot does not affect the blood pressure readings and is acceptable in terms of ease of use based on subjective evaluation. For the reminiscent coloring interaction, subjective evaluation was conducted on two elderly people under the verbal fluency task, and it has been confirmed that the interaction can be used continuously in daily life. The widespread use of the proposed robot as an interface for AI that supports daily life will lead to a society in which AI robots support people from the cradle to the grave.

Kata kunci: Lansia; Penyuluhan; Training of trainer; Pengukuran Tekanan Darah; Terapi Tertawa.AbstractThe elderly period is a period of life that is susceptible to illness due to changes in bodily functions and has an impact on the occurrence of degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Hypertension is a chronic disease which, if not managed properly, can cause other complications. Hypertension requires comprehensive treatment in controlling blood pressure both pharmacologically and nonpharmacologically, one of which is health education and laughter therapy. This community service activity aims to broaden insights on the importance of health for the elderly through modification of risk factors or lifestyle management and prevention through laughter therapy. This activity was carried out in Waai Negeri Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency. The method used is starting from measuring blood pressure, counseling, laughter therapy training for trainers for elderly cadres and practice of laughter therapy. The results of this activity are the elderly experiencing a decrease in blood pressure after being given a laugh therapy and being able to do laugh therapy independently. In addition, the elderly are more enthusiastic to come to the location of the activity, this is evident from the list of visits and activeness of the elderly in participating in a whole series of activities ranging from registration, blood pressure measurement, laughter therapy practice and continued with routine health checks. Keywords: Elderly; Counseling; Training of trainers; Blood Pressure Measurement; Laughter Therapy.

Abstract In addition to its ease of use and degree of independence from the subjectivity inherent in measurements made with the mercury sphygmomanometer (HgS), automated blood pressure measurement instruments (ABPMI) obviate the use of mercury-containing instrumentation and the attendant environmental issues. Thus, they have been widely used in healthcare facilities worldwide. Most evaluations of ABPMI have focused on their compliance with established international protocols, and there has been a paucity of studies examining their performance in actual use in healthcare facilities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ABPMI used in our institution—a large, urban, tertiary-care teaching hospital in the northeastern United States—under routine conditions. This device, the Dinamap® ProCare 400 Monitor, was compared to HgS (considered the “gold standard” for non-invasive blood pressure measurement) with respect to key analytical variables, i.e., precision of measurements and correlation within a large (n=300) sample of patients. Several sources of observer bias with HgS were detected. Precision varied among parameter (systolic blood pressure [SBP]; diastolic blood pressure [DBP]; and mean arterial pressure [MAP]) and level (normotensive, moderately hypertensive, and severely hypertensive). Correlation and regression suggested a strong association between the methods and Bland-Altman analysis indicated an acceptably small systematic error (bias) but greater random error than that demonstrated by previous evaluations with international test protocols. We recommend that healthcare facilities evaluate ABPMI under actual conditions and that formal protocols be established for these evaluations under routine conditions of patient care.
