Abstract Diabetes mellitus considered to represent an immunodeficient state significantly predisposes patients to all types of opportunistic invasive fungal infection. However, very few cases of cutaneous alternariosis associated with diabetes have been reported previously. Herein, we describe a rare case of cutaneous alternariosis in an elderly diabetic patient with antecedent local trauma.

Pulmonary mucormycosis is a relatively rare but often fatal opportunistic fungal infection that occurs mostly in immunocompromised patients. Endobronchial mucormycosis, a distinct clinical form of pulmonary mucormycosis, is very rare, and only a few cases have been reported. The most common bronchoscopic findings in patients with endobronchial mucormycosis are stenosis, erythematous mucosa and airway obstruction. Here, we present a case of fatal endobronchial mucormycosis mimicking actively caseating endobronchial tuberculosis in a young diabetic patient living in a country with an intermediate tuberculosis burden.

Mucormycosis is an invasive fungal infection of zygomycetes class, comprised the orders of entomophtherales and mucorales which is common infection in immuno compromised patients, especially in stem cell transplantation, hematological malignancy and diabetes mellitus. It is the third invasive fungal infection after aspergillosis and candidiasis both strain belong the class of zygomycetes. Mucormycosis generally transmitted in humans by the inoculation and inhalation of spores in mucous membrane as well as skin. After the deadly outbreak of corona virus, this infection has taken a different form in those patients who suffer from the covid-19 which is categorized as a post covid-19 disease. Aim of this review to highlight the recent awareness about invasive fungal treatment.

Mucormycosis is a serious and relatively rare invasive fungal infection. The rhino-orbito-cerebral localization is the most frequent. Mucormycosis of external ear with facial palsy is extremely rare. We describe a case of mucormycosis of the external ear complicated by parotid abscess and facial palsy in a diabetic patient.
