Leptonic decays of B-mesons are theoretically very clean probes for testing the Standard Model (SM) and possible physics beyond it. Amongst the various leptonic decays of the B-meson, the pure dileptonic decay B → ℓ+ ℓ- is very important, as this mode is helicity suppressed in the SM but can be substantially enhanced in some of the models beyond the SM, such as supersymmetric (SUSY) theories and the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). Although the purely dileptonic decay mode is helicity suppressed in the SM its associated mode B → ℓ+ ℓ-γ does not have the same suppression, due to the presence of γ in the final state. In this paper we will also analyze the effects of enhanced Z-penguins on these two decay modes.

We report results of a search for B→τν in a sample of 9.7 million charged B meson decays. The search uses both πν and [Formula: see text] decay modes of the τ, and demands exclusive reconstruction of the companion [Formula: see text] decay to suppress background. We set an upper limit on the branching fraction ℬ(B→τν)<8.4×10-4 at 90% confidence level. With slight modification to the analysis we also establish [Formula: see text] at 90% confidence level.

Correlations of non-photonic electrons with charged hadrons are studied using the PYTHIA Monte Carlo event generator in p + p collisions at [Formula: see text]. We propose experimental methods to estimate the relative contributions to non-photonic electrons from charm and bottom decays. We present the measurement of azimuthal correlations between non-photonic electrons and charged hadrons in p + p collisions at [Formula: see text] from STAR. The results are compared to PYTHIA simulations to estimate the relative contributions of D and B meson semi-leptonic decays to non-photonic electrons. Our preliminary result indicates that at pT ∼ 4.0 - 6.0 GeV / c the measured B contribution to non-photonic electrons is comparable to D contribution, and is consistent with the FONLL calculation.

The effect of magnetic fields on the leptonic decay of charged B meson B− → l-v- is investigated. The decay rate of the process is calculated both in the absence and presence of magnetic field. The non-perturbative parameters fB± (B), f'B± and MB±(B) are also estimated.
