Jordan is considered one of the sun-belt countries, which possesses high solar radiation on its horizontal surface. The present study will be concerned on the uses of fuzzy sets methodology to perform evaluation between the most suitable solar technologies for power generation in Jordan, namely, solar ponds and photovoltaic (PV) technologies. The criterion of the evaluation were based on different parameters, i.e., power capacity, efficiency, availability, capacity factor, storage capability, cost, maturity, land usage and safety, they are planned as the technologies for the near foreseen term. Based on benefit to cost ratios, the results showed that photovoltaic technology found to be the better choice in terms of generating electricity, research and development and more effective programs of support and installation.

Research and development sectors have made great efforts for finding cleaner and greener supplements for fossil fuels. The uses of POME (Palm oil Mill Effluent) as feedstock of biogas production has attracted many industries to produce energy because this source (waste) is abundance and not fully utilised. Methane from biogas production has shown to have a significant potential to replace the depleting sources as it can be produced from renewable feed stocks. The main objective of this study is to produce hydrogen from methane obtained by digesting of POME and to transform bio-methane into hydrogen for generating 500 kW of electric power using a simulation software of SuperPro Design.

A third-class model based on condition monitoring is built in this paper. And an assessment system with operating information, the hottest temperature, and electric filed strength as indicators is realized. Then the equation of health level index for electric power equipment in this model is given. In the end, the health level index and life assessment of transformer are analyzed and calculated by example.

The companies supplying electric power round the globe are facing various issues related due to the occurrence of fault in the distribution lines. Most of them are investing on the research and development of state-of-art technologies to boost continuous supply of energy to the users. The consumers can be guaranteed of flawless power if it is possible to identify and rectify the faults at the shorter time span than usual. The usual way to identify the fault and fault location is with the aid of man power. This work deals with the design and fabrication of an intelligent system based on the GSM. This system helps in efficient identification of the fault and location of the fault, initiating a message to the respective crew members and the control station and ensures that the technical crew will be able to reach the location very accurately in shorter time and recapitulate power at the earliest. The setup includes a current sensor, Arduino and a GSM module. The system identifies the location of fault and the data regarding the location of fault is efficiently conveyed to the control personnel or monitoring system over GSM. The location of the fault thus obtained is very fine and accurate, and the time needed to identify the location of flaw is greatly reduced.
