The aim of this paper is to investigate the equivalence conditions for uniform perfectness of quasimetric spaces. We also obtain the invariance property of uniform perfectness under quasim?bius mappings in quasimetric spaces. In the end, two applications are given.

Sharp bounds are also given for $$|H_2(2)(f^{-1})|$$ | H 2 ( 2 ) ( f - 1 ) | , where $$f^{-1}$$ f - 1 is the inverse function of f. The results settle an invariance property of $$|H_2(2)(f)|$$ | H 2 ( 2 ) ( f ) | and $$|H_2(2)(f^{-1})|$$ | H 2 ( 2 ) ( f - 1 ) | for strongly convex functions.

We investigate uniform perfectness of the Julia set of a transcendental meromorphic function with finitely many poles and prove that the Julia set of such a meromorphic function is not uniformly perfect if it has only bounded components. The Julia set of an entire function is uniformly perfect if and only if the Julia set including infinity is connected and every component of the Fatou set is simply connected. Furthermore if an entire function has a finite deficient value in the sense of Nevanlinna, then it has no multiply connected stable domains. Finally, we give some examples of meromorphic functions with uniformly perfect Julia sets.

Abstract A deterministic application θ:ℝ2→ℝ2 deforms bijectively and regularly the plane and allows the construction of a deformed random field X∘θ:ℝ2→ℝ from a regular, stationary, and isotropic random field X:ℝ2→ℝ. The deformed field X∘θ is, in general, not isotropic (and not even stationary), however, we provide an explicit characterization of the deformations θ that preserve the isotropy. Further assuming that X is Gaussian, we introduce a weak form of isotropy of the field X∘θ, defined by an invariance property of the mean Euler characteristic of some of its excursion sets. We prove that deformed fields satisfying this property are strictly isotropic. In addition, we are able to identify θ, assuming that the mean Euler characteristic of excursion sets of X∘θ over some basic domain is known.

This paper describes a method for computing estimates for the location parameter μ > 0 and scale parameter λ > 0 with fixed shape parameter α of the alpha power exponential distribution (APED) under type-II hybrid censored (T-IIHC) samples. We compute the maximum likelihood estimations (MLEs) of (μ, λ) by applying the Newton-Raphson method (NRM) and expectation maximization algorithm (EMA). In addition, the estimate hazard functions and reliability are evaluated by applying the invariance property of MLEs. We calculate the Fisher information matrix (FIM) by applying the missing information rule, which is important in finding the asymptotic confidence interval. Finally, the different proposed estimation methods are compared in simulation studies. A simulation example and real data example are analyzed to illustrate our estimation methods.

A novel treatment for the stability of linear time invariant (LTI) systems with rationally independent multiple time delays is presented in this paper. The independence of delays makes the problem much more challenging compared to systems with commensurate time delays (where the delays have rational relations). We uncover some wonderful features for such systems. For instance, all the imaginary characteristic roots of these systems can be found exhaustively along a set of surfaces in the domain of the delays. They are called the “kernel” surfaces (curves for two-delay cases), and it is proven that the number of the kernel surfaces is manageably small and bounded. All possible time delay combinations, which yield an imaginary characteristic root, lie either on this kernel or its infinitely many “offspring” surfaces. Another hidden feature is that the root tendencies along these surfaces exhibit an invariance property. From these outstanding characteristics an efficient, exact, and exhaustive methodology results for the stability assessment. As an added uniqueness of this method, the systems under consideration do not have to be stable for zero delays. Several example case studies are presented, which are prohibitively difficult, if not impossible to solve using any other peer methodology known to the authors.
