The thermomechanical buckling and postbuckling behavior of layered composite shell type structure are considered with the finite element method (FEM) under the combination of temperature load and applied mechanical loads. To account for through-thickness shear deformation effects, the thermal elastic, Higher-Order Shear deformation Theory (HOST) is used in this study. The refined higher order theories, that takes into account the effect of transverse normal deformation, is used to develop discrete finite element models for the thermal buckling analysis of composite laminates. Attention in this study is focused on analyzing the temperature effects on buckling and postbuckling behavior of thin shell structural components. Special attention in this paper is focused on studying of values of the hole in curved panel on thermal buckling behavior and consequently to expend and upgrade previously conducted investigation. Using FEM, a broader observation of the critical temperature of loss of stability depending on the size of the hole was conducted. The presented numerical results based on HOST can be used as versatile and accurate method for buckling and postbuckling analyzes of thin-walled laminated plates under thermo-mechanical loads.

A new first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) has been developed and verified for laminated plates and sandwich plates. Based on the definition of Reissener–Mindlin’s plate theory, the average transverse shear strains, which are constant through the thickness, are improved to vary through the thickness. It is assumed that the displacement and in-plane strain fields of FSDT can approximate, in an average sense, those of three-dimensional theory. Relationship between FSDT and three-dimensional theory has been systematically established in the averaged least-square sense. This relationship provides the closed-form recovering relations for three-dimensional variables expressed in terms of FSDT variables as well as the improved transverse shear strains. This paper makes two main contributions. First an enhanced first-order shear deformation theory (EFSDT) has been developed using an available higher-order plate theory. Second, it is shown that the displacement fields of any higher-order plate theories can be recovered by EFSDT variables. The present approach is applied to an efficient higher-order plate theory. Comparisons of deflection and stresses of the laminated plates and sandwich plates using present theory are made with the original FSDT and three-dimensional exact solutions.

The geometric parameters of the composite laminate in the engineering structure tend to have random properties. It is of great significance on how to study sensitivity of random parameters of laminated plates and carry on the optimized analysis to the parameteranalys when accurately estimating the reliability of structural design. According to the first order shear deformation theory, by using the spline finite element method, we can infer and the establish a laminated plate vibration equation, the stiffness matrix, mass matrix, proportional damping matrix, before making solution of the antisymmetric laminated plates response sensitivity formula, and analyzing the normal displacement, the sensitivity, the natural frequency of compound materials laminated plate. The Numerical examples verify the effectiveness of this algorithm.
