This study aims to examine the k-means clustering and region growing segmentation methods to identify and measure the area of mangrove forests in the Southeast Sulawesi province. The image of the area of this study used Landsat 8 satellite imagery. The area of mangrove forest was carried out by calculating the number of pixels identified as mangrove forests with an area density of 900 m2/pixel. The accuracy of the two segmentation methods in calculating the area was compared based on the same area calculated by LAPAN. The overall accuracy of k-means clustering segmentation method has better accuracy, which is 59.26%, than region growing with 33.33% of accuracy. Both image segmentation methods, k-means clustering and region growing, can be used to calculate the area of mangrove forests in the Southeast Sulawesi region using Landsat 8 satellite imagery.

Change detection in image pairs has traditionally been a binary process, reporting either “Change” or “No Change.” In this paper, we present LambdaNet, a novel deep architecture for performing pixel-level directional change detection based on a four class classification scheme. LambdaNet successfully incorporates the notion of “directional change” and identifies differences between two images as “Additive Change” when a new object appears, “Subtractive Change” when an object is removed, “Exchange” when different objects are present in the same location, and “No Change.” To obtain pixel annotated change maps for training, we generated directional change class labels for the Change Detection 2014 dataset. Our tests illustrate that LambdaNet would be suitable for situations where the type of change is unstructured, such as change detection scenarios in satellite imagery.

Image segmentation plays a vital role in several medical imaging programs by assisting the delineation of physiological structures along with other parts. The objective of this research work is to segmentize human lung MRI (Medical resonance Imaging) images for early detection of cancer.Watershed Transform Technique is implemented as the Segmentation method in this work. Some comparative experiments using both directly applied watershed algorithm and after marking foreground and computed background segmentation methods show the improved lung segmentation accuracy in some image cases.
