It is noted that the effective application of programmable logic controllers in automated control systems in launching complexes is closely linked to the training of specialists, capable to carry out the development of application software. In connection with complexity of debugging of the developed programs on real process equipment an analysis of the possible variants of simulation of control processes is performed and effectiveness of virtualization of control objects on computers is noted. The developed applications of Real Games-company to create virtual control objects using 3D-graphics for training to usage of programmable logic controllers in industrial control systems are considered. The perspectives for the application software of Real Games-company in the training of specialists for automation systems of technological equipment in launching complexes are evaluated.

Nowadays, most control systems are based on programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and on commercial programs, but the use of conventional PCs is becoming an increasing by popularity and competitive alternative. After an introduction that underlines the positive and negative aspects of both solutions, EtherCAT, a hard real-time industrial Ethernet protocol that allows the use of both conventional PCs and open-source software, is analyzed. Two different EtherCAT master implementations are compared, which are based on a commercial and on a open-source software, respectively. In order to highlight differences and provide a short reference, a simple example was implemented in the two environments.

This work is devoted to the development of an automated transfer switch (ATS) for the 6/0.4 kV substation. The work is relevant due to the introduction of automation and the replacement of electromechanical equipment with microprocessor devices in the power systems. At the lower (field) level, automation is driven by the use of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and various smart sensors. The possibility of using modular PLC in automation systems is considered. Developed are an algorithm and a program for the implementation of automated regulation of the application of automatic transfer switches at a substation using the recommendations of the IEC 61131.3 “Programming languages of programmable logic controllers” standard.

NOVA Corporation of Alberta has developed a programmable logic controller based gas turbine fuel control system for natural gas compressor set applications. The system carries out all necessary fuel control functions and was integrated into the existing programmable logic controller used for sequencing and shutdown. The system has been successfully implemented on several different aero derivative gas turbines to date. This paper discusses the development of the system, its performance and advantages over standalone hardware-based fuel control systems typically used in the application.
