In present scenario Network Management System of Next Generation SDH is not performing Offline reporting, offline analysis of alarms, offline performance management and Configurations of network like real time. Any offline configuration of a network when implemented on a real time environment leaves some shortcomings and wrong configuration attributes due to non-availability of Alarms and Performance Management in the presently available offline utility. A simulated platform is developed for implementation of a traffic matrix in an offline environment before implementing over a real time NG SDH Transmission network to reduce the chance of faults or any network disaster.

The current data collection of a network device in the network management system exists low real-time and long polling cycle, this paper proposes a subnet broadcast algorithm based on SNMP. The algorithm introduces the idea of Subnet division and broadcasting, when polling, the algorithm polled network devices by sending a SNMP data broadcast packet to each subnet, which reduced the polling packets, shortened the polling cycle and lightened the burden of management station, thus the proposed algorithm improves real-time and work efficiency for the large-scale network management system.

Based on analyzing EPON Network architectures and EPON Network Management functional requirements, this paper designed an EPON Network management System according to configuration management, performance management, fault management, topology management, security management and log management, and achieved a system based on RIA technology and B/S mode. The client was written based on Flex framework and the server was written by JAVA. A middleware technology was used between client and server for communicating. Through the B/S mode and SNMP, the system has achieved a series of management functions of EPON network.

As the work for managing a whole LAN effectively withoutlimited purposes, there are works of Policy-based networkmanagement (PBNM). The existing PBNM is defined in someorganizations including the Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF). However, it has structural problems. For example, communications sent from many clients concentrate on acommunication control mechanism called PEP (PolicyEnforcement Point). To improve the problems, we have beenstudying next generation PBNM called Destination AddressingControl System (DACS) Scheme. The DACS Scheme controlsthe whole LAN through communication control by the clientsoftware as PEP which locates on a client computer. We havebeen studied on the aspect of principle until now. In thisresearch, we implement a DACS system to realize a concept ofthe DACS Scheme, and show implement method and results offunctional experiments.

Web-based network management revolving about database puts forward a feasible mode for network information processing and has the characteristics of wide distribution, full interactivity, real-time dynamic and so on in the application; and is beneficial to timely adjustment for network performance and rapid recovery for fault. Combining the technologies of JSP, JavaBean, JDBC, Socket, JavaApplet, Ajax, JavaScript and so on, database-centric network management mode ensures the reliable, efficient and stable operation of configuration, performance, fault, security and accounting management in the development of business network management system, such as TD-SCDMA network, PON network, TMPLS network, IPTV network, power network and so on. In practice, it is worth mentioning that it improves the dynamical and real-time release performance of accounting management, realizes web-based management for rate and bill. Customers could receive bills real-timely in internet and deals with them conveniently. This is propitious to the management of network vendors as well.
