Dispersion is defined as - the phenomenon in an optical fiber whereby light photons arrive at a distant point  in the different phase then they entered the fiber. Dispersion causes signal distortion that ultimately limits the bandwidth and usable length of the fiber cable. Therefore dispersion compensation (management) becomes an essential part to study in optical communication for better transmission. In this paper we have reviewed the various techniques (schemes) that are used for dispersion compensation.

Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) is distributed reflector written in short length of optical fiber to reflect specific wavelengths of light and transmit the other components of spectra. By using FBG method in dispersion compensation can boost significantly the system performance. High capacity transmission and low effective cost of Radio over Fiber technique (Rof) are resulted from the combination of the optical communication capacity and the mobility of wireless networks. In this research article, an investigation of radio over fiber transmission for 50 km-long optical fiber operated at 10 Gb/s data rate and modulated under efficient DPSK modulation technique. The effect of Fiber Bragg Grating as chromatic dispersion compensation and channel spacing in WDM on optical communication system is analyzed and evaluated. The system performance is evaluated in terms of eye diagram. The outcomes of our simulation shows that Four unequal spacing channels radio over fiber system with ideal dispersion FBG has the best performance in terms of Q-factor and BER.

In the optical fiber communication system of high-speed and large capacity, the dispersion is one of the main technical indicators. The dispersion causes the light pulse broadening, so it leads to the distortion of signal transmission and BER (bit error rate). The main research is the single-mode optical fiber dispersion compensation. The design and performance of system structure on the dispersion compensation fiber communication system is accomplished by using of the optic system optical fiber communication system simulation. Through the analysis of system structure and the research of the performance of the key components of the system, the output signal waveform is simulated and the influence of the output signal waveform by the system structure and key components performance of the receiving end is compared. The design can reduce the system dispersion.

The discovery of optical fiber cause widespread revolution of communication system. Optical fiber communication has excellency on data transmission speed, security, flexibility, and broadly bandwidth. The applying of WDM network can broaden the bandwidth so that the transmission performance becomes more splendid. Although some factors such as dispersion, attenuation, and scattering can hinder the performance of fiber optic on sending data. Moreover dispersion can wreck data and spread pulse as it travels alongs fiber so that causing interference. There is some methods  of dispersion compensation. In this paper, Fiber Raman Amplifier is used on WDM network to strengthen signal which is sent to detector. This research utilize simulation approachment  with various bandwidth and length fiber. The results show lowest BER value and highest Q-factor at bandwidth frequency of 30 GHz and fiber length of 20 km.
