Abstract Ten species of Scatopsidae (Diptera) have been reared from tussocks of 7 species of Cyperaceae, 2 species of Juncaceae, 4 species of Poaceae and from dead specimens of 1 species of Typhaceae gathered in meadow, boggy meadow, alder forest and shores of a pond and a montane brook from 3 localities in the Czech Silesia (Czech Republic). One of them, Swammerdamella jindrichi Haenni sp. n. is described as new. Information is given for the first time on the sites of development of immature stages for several species, notably of genera Ferneiella and Thripomorpha.

AbstractProblematic phosphatic sclerites Eurytholia are reported for the first time from the Middle Devonian. Unequivocal sclerites were observed in limestones of Emsian to late Eifelian age in six localities of the Barrandian area of the Central Bohemia of the Czech Republic. Formerly observed size and shape variations of Eurytholia sclerites prevent formal description of a new species on few specimens of Emsian and Eifelian age. Therefore the new specimens are identified as Eurytholia aff. bohemica. Their presence indicates longer time range of the Eurytholia animal, covering not only the Ordovician, the Silurian and the earliest Devonian as known formerly, but also late Lower Devonian and the Middle Devonian. Similar features in morphology and histology of Eurytholia indicate relationship to a conodont Pseudooneotodus and a support suggestion about the vertebrate origin of Eurytholia sclerites.

Abstract Altogether four moth species, namely Agonopterix paraselini Buchner, 2017, A. medelichensis Buchner, 2015, Brachodes pumila (Ochsenheimer, 1808), and Callopistria latreillei (Duponchel, 1827) are reported from the Czech Republic for the first time. Coleophora aleramica Baldizzone & Stübner, 2007 is reported as a new species for Moravia, and Coleophora bilineatella Zeller, 1849, C. oriolella Zeller, 1849 and Syncopacma albifrontella (Heinemann, 1870) are new species for Bohemia. Historical record of Ischnoscia borreonella (Millière, 1874), unaccepted in previous checklists, is considered possible and included into the species list. Historical records of Plusidia cheiranthi (Tauscher, 1809) which were omitted in recent checklists are now considered reliable. The origin of Dorycnium herbaceum Vill. in Bohemia is commented on the basis of Lepidoptera trophically associated with this plant species.

The small Microgastrinae genus Venanides is recorded from Europe (Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic) for the first time, where one species, Venanides carcinae sp. nov., described here, proves to be a regular solitary parasitoid of Carcina quercana. Outline notes on its biology, phenology and abundance are given.

Campos Amazônicos National Park is a federal conservation unit that contains part of the largest Cerrado refuge in the southern part of Brazilian Amazonia. Recently, during a survey of aquatic insects in the park, specimens of the caddisfly genus Chimarra were collected. The primary objective of this paper, as a result of this effort, is to describe and illustrate the male adult of a new species in Chimarra (Chimarrita), Chimarra singularis sp. nov., and the immature stages of Chimarra usitatissima Flint 1971. Additionally, the distributions of C.(Chimarrita) akantha Blahnik 1997 and C. (Curgia) jugescens Flint 1998 are extended to the southern part of Amazonas state, and C. (Chimarrita) heppneri Blahnik 1997 is recorded for the first time in northern Brazil.

During the investigation of fungal microbiome associated with boxwood in the Czech Republic, samples from Buxus sempervirens L. (Buxaceae) plants were collected and used for isolation. Two fungal strains were proposed as a new species Pyrenochaetopsis kuksensis based on morphology as well as phylogenetic analyses of ITS, LSU, rpb2, and tub2 sequence data. Detailed descriptions and phylogenetic relationships of the new taxon are provided.

Yara marmontsedu, a new species in the family Hydroscaphidae (Coleoptera: Myxophaga), is described and illustrated. Specimens of Y. marmontsedu were collected at the Pijibay Creek, tributary of the Mico River in Chontales, Nicaragua. The immature stages are described and illustrated for the first time for a species of Yara. This is a contribution to the knowledge of the water beetle fauna of Nicaragua.

A new species of Mycetophilidae (Diptera), Acomopterella martinovskyi sp. n., is described from the Czech Republic and Austria. This is the first record of the genus from the Palaearctic region. Its relationships with other genera and variation in wing characters are briefly discussed. A new combination and synonymy is proposed: Acomopterella fallax (Sherman, 1921) comb.n. = Acomopterella arnaudi Zaitzev, 1989 syn.n.
