AbstractThis paper presents two techniques of active thermography i.e. the pulsed thermography technique and the step heating technique. The aim of this article is to compare these two techniques and present the possibilities, advantages and limitations of their use in the context of non-destructive testing of composite materials. The experimental section presents the results of tests carried out on samples of the polymer composites reinforced with glass fiber.

The article discusses the practical aspects of applying the thermal imaging non-destructive testing method of layered polymer composites. The specific purpose of the work is to demonstrate the possibilities of detecting in material and geometric identification of initial defects such as debonding.

Infrared (IR) thermography is a method for imaging thermal fields on the target surfaces in real time. It is a noncontact and non-destructive method of obtaining thermogram of tested material surface or inside of it. We can divide the IR thermographic testing methods into two basic groups – passive and active thermography. This article introduces a basic overview of IR active thermography.

This paper introduces the theory of eddy current pulsed thermography and expounds the research status of eddy current pulsed thermography in application and information extraction. Thermographic signal reconstruction, pulsed phase thermography, principal component analysis were introuduced in this paper and listed some fusion multiple methods to acquire information from infrared image. At last, it summarizes research progress, existing problem and deelopment of eddy current pulsed thermography.

Eddy Current Pulsed Thermography is a crucial non-destructive testing technology which has a rapidly increasing range of applications for crack detection on metals. Although the unsupervised learning method has been widely adopted in thermal sequences processing, the research on supervised learning in crack detection remains unexplored. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end pattern, deep region learning structure to achieve precise crack detection and localization. The proposed structure integrates both time and spatial pattern mining for crack information with a deep region convolution neural network. Experiments on both artificial and natural cracks have shown attractive performance and verified the efficacy of the proposed structure.
