Abstract The paper presents practical aspects of development of acceptable risk levels in maritime shipping with respect to the cooperation of parties involved in maritime safety, commonly used risk acceptance principles, criteria and uncertainties related to their development. The results of analysis of risk assessment methods used for potentially hazardous operations on board ships performed on the basis of extensive studies on the onboard safety management systems is presented. The merits and drawbacks of the approach used in the development of risk acceptance criteria in onboard safety management systems are discussed.

The work is devoted to the development and substantiation of the method of identification and assessment of risks of food protection from economically motivated fraud and bioterrorism, taking into account the requirements of international standards for the development and operation of food safety management systems. The purpose of the work is to scientifically substantiate and develop a method of identification and assessment of risks of food protection from economically motivated fraud and bioterrorism, which is based on the concepts of VACCP and TACCP taking into account the requirements of international standards GLOBALG.A.P. and ISO 22000: 2018. Research methods - theoretical and modeling (development of identification method and selection of risk assessment criteria), representative (presentation of the application of the developed method) and diagnostic. The latter tested the possibility of applying the developed method to assess the risks of protecting food products from economically motivated fraud and intentional harm, taking into account the requirements of international standards. Results. A method for identifying and assessing the risks of food protection from economically motivated fraud and intentional harm, taking into account the requirements of international standards, developed criteria and methodology for risk assessment.

The article indicates the goals and objectives of risk management at industrial enterprises. The basic definitions of hazards and risks are given. In addition, they reviewed risk assessment methods related to the implementation of OSH management systems.

We all aim for safe processes. However, providing safety is a complex endeavour. What is it that makes a process safe? And what is the contribution of humans? It is very common to consider humans a risk factor prone to errors. Therefore, we implement sophisticated safety management systems (SMS) in order to prevent potential "human failure". These SMS provide an impressive increase of safety. In safety science this approach is labelled "Safety-I", and it starts to be questioned because humans do not show failures only. On the contrary, they often actively contribute to safety, sometimes even by deviating from a procedure. This "Safety-II" perspective considers humans to be a "safety factor" as well because of their ability to adjust behaviour to the given situation. However, adaptability requires scope of action and this is where Safety-I and Safety-II contradict each other. While the former restricts freedom of action, the latter requires room for manoeuvring. Thus, the task of integrating the Safety-II perspective into SMS, which are traditionally Safety-I based, is difficult. This challenge was the main objective of our project. We discovered two methods that contribute to the quality of SMS by integrating Safety-II into SMS without jeopardizing the Safety-I approach.
