Green Productivity is integrated for enhancing the profitability of the organization by improving productivity and environmental performance for overall socio-economic development. It considered the win-win situation of uplifting the quality of life in the form of generating profits to the business and considering the less impact to the environment from the business processes which leads to the greener business practices. The objective of this research paper is to review the existing literature about the practical application of the GP to identify the business areas which are influenced by the GP methodology. This is Qualitative research in nature. Nineteen existing research papers from reputed Journals are considered for the study. The content analysis method is used to analyze the research papers. The analysis results highlighted that GP methodology could be applied to any organization regardless of nature and size, and it will generate a significant contribution to the overall profitability of the organization by creating a competitive advantage in the market. GP will contribute to the organizations in two areas, (1) Productivity through reducing manufacturing cost, cycle time, risk, waste and increasing competitive advantages through social productivity, labour, and capital productivity of the business, (2) The environment in the form of reducing waste with many environmental concepts such as 3R, 5R Concepts and releasing less carbon emission to the environment. It is clear that this GP Methodology practice will enhance the development of socioeconomic and sustainability, which uplifts the living standard of all living beings in the natural environment.

This study measures and decomposes green productivity growth of Korean manufacturing industries between 2004 and 2010 using the Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index. We focus on differences in the measures of productivity growth by distinguishing carbon emissions from either end-user industries or the electricity generation industry. Empirical results suggest three main findings. First, the efficiency of total emissions is higher than that of direct emissions except for the shipbuilding industry. Second, green productivity in the manufacturing sector increased during the study period. Finally, green productivity depends on the indirect emissions of each industry. These results indicate that policymakers need to deliberately develop policy tools for mitigating carbon emissions of the manufacturing industrial sectors based on our empirical findings.

As a significant ecological corridor from west to east across China, the Yangtze River Economical Belt (YREB) is in great need of green development and transformation. Rather than only focusing on the overall growth of green productivity, it is important to identify whether the technical change is biased towards economic performance or green performance in promoting green productivity. By employing the biased technical change theory and Malmquist index decomposition method, we analyze the green biased technical change in terms of industrial water resources in YREB at the output side and the input side respectively. We find that the green biased technical change varies during 2006–2015 at both the input side and output side in YREB. At the input side, water-saving biased technical change is generally dominant compared to water-using biased technical change during 2006–2015, presenting the substitution effects of non-water production factors. At the output side, the economy-growth biased technical change is the main force to promote green productivity, whereas the role of water-conservation biased technical change is insufficient. The green performance at the output side needs to be strengthened compared to the economic performance in YREB. A series of water-related environmental policies introduced in China since 2008 have promoted the green biased technical change both at the input side and the output side in YREB, but the policy effects at the output side is still inadequate compared to that at the input side. The technological innovation in sewage treatment and control need to catch up with the economic growth in YREB. Our research gives insights to enable a deeper understanding of the green biased technical change in YREB and will benefit more focused policy-making of green innovation.
