This chapter presents an approach to the role of software engineering in developing solutions for new mobile technologies, like tablets. It discusses the importance of the new standards brought by emerging technologies such as engineering and how software must adapt to this new reality in order to identify the needs of data, information, integration, shares, and other issues that will contribute to the life cycle of these solutions. The chapter also discusses the contribution of users in the development process and improve these solutions. The research method is the case study conducted in industrial companies that use a digital catalog solution and sales force automation for tablets. This chapter presents a new approach based on commercial tablets which is supported by a platform of software and services called commercially Nimiam (www.nimiam.com.br).

The decision about marketing channels selection is critical as it ultimately affects the other supply chain activities of any business. The purpose of this study was to examine the redistribution role of distributors in the brewing industry. The study employed a survey using a single case study from the perspective of retail outlets. The study revealed that availability and visibility of brands increased brand penetration coupled with effective coverage and management of sales territories by the distributor. The outlets indicated that getting all the empties for their purchase of products was a challenge. The study suggests that distributors must be accountable and ensures flawless sales force coverage and effectiveness to avoid out-of-stocks situations. Manufacturers must intensify their trade and consumer promotions concurrently to really connect the push and pull aspect of distribution.

This study examines the knowledge of entrepreneurs on the complex concept of innovation before assessing how they apply this knowledge to increase the propensity to develop new products and services. Within this context, considerable emphasis explores the assertions that knowledge management can enhance the adoption of new technology through collaborative networks. The aim of the study is to build a body of work in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship that spans the divide between theory and practice by empirically harnessing the perspectives of the case study companies on their innovation behavior. The design of this study adopts the characteristics of a case study research which was applied extensively to provide qualitative data. To be included in the study, firms had to be in existence for at least a year, and firms of the same age were avoided. The findings revealed that the concept of innovation is heterogeneous and elusive. Therefore, the study concluded that innovation is a global concept that requires knowledge acquisition through collaborative networks.

In today's complex organizations, IT governance is an important managerial challenge. IT governance deals with decisions and responsibilities concerning IT. There are many factors influencing IT governance. One factor that has remained relatively unexplored by academic research is that of organizational culture. This research explores the influence of the organizational culture of collaborative networks on IT governance performance. A case study was conducted in a large complex company with several networks. The findings indicated that the networks fit better with different organizational culture types based on their priorities for IT governance outcomes to maximize performance. A clan organizational culture is desired when aiming for effective use of IT for asset utilization and cost-effective use of IT. An adhocracy culture fits better when prioritizing the effective use of IT for business growth. Finally, a combination of market and hierarchy organizational culture is desired and fits better when seeking effective use of IT for business flexibility and cost cutting.
