The aim of the paper is to estimate the cost efficiency of the Czech and Slovak commercial banks within the period 2010-2014. For empirical analysis the Data Envelopment Analysis input-oriented model with variable returns to scale is applied on the data of the commercial banks. The intermediation approach is adopted to define the inputs and outputs. The Czech commercial banks are more cost efficient than Slovak commercial banks. The development of average cost efficiency is similar in the Czech and Slovak banking industry. The most efficient Czech banks are Ceská sporitelna and Sberbank in the Czech banking sector, the most efficient Slovak bank is Privatbanka with 100% efficiency.

Purpose Increased competition in the banking sector coupled with long queues in the banking hall has necessitated the introduction of internet banking among banks in Ghana. As a result, internet banking has attracted a great deal of attention from both academicians and practitioners. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of internet banking on the performance of banking institutions in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach In total, 20 banks in Ghana were selected from the Bank of Ghana website for the study. The financial information about the banks’ operations was retrieved from the financial statements of the respective banks for the end of the year 2016. The data envelopment analysis-bootstrap approach with principal component analysis and cluster analysis was used to estimate 49 models. Findings The findings of the study indicated that the integration of internet banking into traditional banking methods has led to superior bank performance in Ghana. It was observed that while the independent application of internet banking as a strategy to raise performance was not yielding higher returns due to the low patronage of internet services among banking consumers, its integration with possible traditional methods is widely observed among the top performers in the banking industry. Practical implications Traditional banking methods, integrated banking service strategies and the internet banking service-oriented strategy emerged as the main banking strategies among the banks. Originality/value Extant literature is quite silent on the effect of internet banking on bank performance in Africa. However, this paper is among the first significant attempts to examine the effect of internet banking on bank performance.

Construction industry is a main industry in national economy, Chinese construction industry has made huge achievement, but the developments between different provinces in China are imbalanced. To compare the different efficiencies between them, data envelopment analysis and an important extended means of DEA were introduced, compared and applied in empirical analysis of Chinese construction industry efficiency between different provinces based on statistical data. Then some conclusions and advices were reached in the end.

In this study, the Azerbaijani banking sector was researched for the post-COVID19 period. On the other hand, data envelopment analysis method and models were also learned. In this paper, we analyzed the top 10 banks of Azerbaijan in terms of assets for 2021 and as a result of the study, 4 banks are efficient and 6 banks are not. The analysis was carried out using the Data Envelopment Analysis method for the 3rd half of 2021 based on the data of the five largest banks for total assets in the Azerbaijan. In this analysis, we used the CCR (Charnes Cooper Rhodes) model of the Data Envelopment Analysis method with the DEA Solver application. As a result of the analysis, 4 banks were efficiency 6 banks were found to be inefficiency and target points were identified for inefficiency banks.

Efficiency of academic sports clubs operating in higher educationIn the article, the efficiency of 29 academic sports clubs in 2017 was measured using the NR-DEA non-radial-efficiency data envelopment analysis model. Two empirical models characterizing two different areas of activity of academic sports clubs were used in the study. The first model M1 focused on club productivity, it includes the number of people practicing in the club and the total number of points obtained in the Polish Academic Championships. The second model M2 focused on club activity, it takes into account the number of organized events and participants taking part in the events. The results obtained show that sports clubs of technical universities were more often effective in terms of productivity than in terms of activity. A different situation occurs in university clubs, which were more often effective in terms of the activity of sports events, sporadically in terms of productivity.
