Abstract Alloy Steel 5Ni-0.25Mo-0.05V is highly suitable for massive components, usually more than four inches thick. It has only moderate hardenability but 5-inch to 80-inch rounds can be cooled from the austenitizing temperature in air or a water-spray quench to produce ferrite, bainite and martensite or ferrite and bainite. This steel is suitable for light and intermediate-duty generator and turbine rotors, large axles and shafts, large gears, ship forgings, and many other thick-section components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-403. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

Abstract AISI 5135 is a low-alloy, through-hardening steel containing nominally 0.95% chromium. It is recommended for applications where medium hardenability, moderate strength and low-to-moderate toughness are sufficient. It may be used in the unhardened (annealed, as-rolled, or normalized) condition or after quenching in oil followed by tempering. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-323. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

Abstract SAE 4032 is an alloy steel used extensively in the automobile industry. It combines moderate strength with good toughness in the quenched and tempered condition because it is relatively free from temper embrittlement when tempered in the range 850-1100 F. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-319. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

Abstract NITRALLOY 125 (0.20-0.30% C) is a special alloy steel which can be nitrided, that is, surface hardened, without final quenching, by the action of ammonia gas at relatively low temperatures. Nitralloy 125 is also known as Nitralloy H. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-61. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

Abstract Alloy Steel 1.8 Cu-1.0 Mn-1.2 Si is a low-carbon (0.20% max.) cast steel designed to provide intermediate tensile and yield strength. Copper lowers the ductility and toughness of cast steel but, for a given increase in tensile strength, the loss of ductility and toughness is less if copper is added than if carbon is increased. This steel has many uses such as booms, long shafting and gears. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-325. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
