Abstract DI-METAL 3 is a zinc-base alloy of high fluidity capable of producing fine detail in die castings. It is the most stable of the zinc die casting alloys, but on aging loses about 20% of its tensile strength with practically no impact drop. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Zn-3. Producer or source: Federated Metals Corporation, ASARCO Inc..

Abstract Copper Alloy No. 878 is a copper-zinc-silicon alloy for die castings. Among the brass die-casting alloys, it has the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance; however, it is the most difficult to machine. It is used where very high requirements must be met for strength and wear resistance. Its many applications include tools, pump impellers, gears and marine hardware. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-386. Producer or source: Copper alloy producers.

Abstract ASARCO Z.D.C. No. 7 is a zinc die casting alloy which will be found particularly helpful in casting relatively large, complicated shapes and intricate parts which are not free to shrink in the dies because of cores, slides, etc. and require a hardware finish for subsequent plating or organic finishes. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Zn-10. Producer or source: Federated Metals Corporation, ASARCO Inc..

Abstract ZA-12 is the intermediate member of the family of three ZA die-casting alloys. Its melting point, solidification range and recommended casting-temperature range are greater than those of ZA-8. (See Alloy Digest Zn-48, January 1990). Due to these factors, ZA-12 must be die cast in cold chamber die-casting machines like conventional aluminum die-casting alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-49. Producer or source: Aluminum Smelting and Refining Company Inc..
