Abstract Copper Alloy No. 878 is a copper-zinc-silicon alloy for die castings. Among the brass die-casting alloys, it has the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance; however, it is the most difficult to machine. It is used where very high requirements must be met for strength and wear resistance. Its many applications include tools, pump impellers, gears and marine hardware. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-386. Producer or source: Copper alloy producers.

Abstract Copper Alloy No. C86400 is a free-machining, low-tensile (60,000 psi), cast manganese bronze; it is also classified as high-strength yellow brass. Although it is around the low-strength end of the manganese bronzes, its tensile strength is substantially greater than that of the corresponding copper-zinc (yellow brass) alloy. Typical uses are marine fittings, valve stems, lever arms and light-duty gears. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-453. Producer or source: Copper alloy foundries. “Originally published February 1983, revised August 1985.”

Abstract Copper Alloy No. C44300 is a copper-zinc-tin alloy inhibited by arsenic; it is commonly known as inhibited admiralty metal or admiralty brass. It has a good combination of strength and ductility and good resistance to general corrosion. The small addition of arsenic (nominally 0.06%) is made to minimize the alloy's susceptibility to dezincification and stress corrosion. It is used widely for condenser, evaporator and heat-exchanger tubes and associated applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-526. Producer or source: Copper and copper alloy mills.
