<p><strong>INTRODUCTION:</strong> Understanding clients’ perspectives on quality improvement programs is essential to achieve the goals of health services. Determining client satisfaction could help decision makers to implement programs fit to their needs as perceived by service providers and clients. This study aimed to assess the level of satisfaction among women attending health centers regarding the services received in governmental health facilities in Shiraz, southern Iran.</p><p><strong>METHOD:</strong> This cross-sectional study was performed in 24 urban health centers. Using systematic random sampling method, 8 clinics were assigned to each group. Then questionnaires were distributed among 240 married women in 15-49 year-old age group who had referred to selected clinics for receiving some services. For data analysis, SPSS version 15 software and Chi-square statistical procedure were used to evaluate clients’ satisfaction.</p><p><strong>RESULTS:</strong> Data showed that 101 out of 240 respondents were completely satisfied with the personnel as well as the health center. Furthermore, satisfaction was found to be the highest among clients of those centers ranked as middle class socioeconomic status, while no significant difference was found between centers based on their socioeconomic status.</p><p><strong>CONCLUSION: </strong>The results of the present study would enable policy-makers to effectively improve the quality of health care, keeping a balance between providers’ and patients’ perspectives on the quality of health care.</p>

Objective. The aim of this study is to determine the quality of accredited education on the topic of gender-based violence to health care professionals, health and professional associates in the Republic of Serbia. Methods. A search of a database of accredited continuing education programs published on the website of the Health Council of the Republic of Serbia for the period between January 2010 and July 2019. identified programs using the keywords "violence", "family" "gender-based". The ch2 test was used to examine the differences between the independent variables versus the dependent variable. Results. This study showed that two thirds of the training was intended for health care professionals, only while health care workers, health and professional associates were allocated for every seventh education. If the type of institution is observed, it can be noticed that twice as many programs are accredited by civil society organizations in relation to the number of programs accredited by health institutions. Considering the time period in which the programs are accredited, a trend of increasing number of programs can be observed. Among the accredited programs, national courses accounted for 42.6% of the accredited programs while every other program was free. There is a statistically significant difference between educations organized by different types of institutions in relation to the type and cost of education. Conclusion. Although in the observed period there is an increasing trend in the number of accredited programs dealing with gender-based violence, there is still room to improve the quality of continuing education in terms of increasing the number of trainings with an interactive method of work, trainings aimed at different profiles of health professionals and health and professional associates, as well as free on line trainings.

Abstract Background Globally, 35% of women have experienced gender-based violence (GBV) which seriously affects all aspects of women’s health. While health sector must play a key role in response, there are many barriers for GBV survivors to access health services, especially in developing countries including Myanmar. Limitations of health sector in provision of quality services to GBV survivors, healthcare providers’ knowledge, attitude, experience and service availability and readiness, should be explored as an initial step for the improvement of health care response to GBV survivors. Methods This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted in four purposively selected townships with higher number GBV cases. Face-to-face interviews were done to all health care providers (n=233) from public health facilities using a structured questionnaire. The findings were described as frequency and percentage for categorical data and mean and standard deviation for continuous data. Results Lady Health Visitors and Midwives were mainly involved (88.0%). About two-thirds had heard GBV without probing. Types of violence they mostly described were physical (81.1%) and sexual violence (8.5%). One-third wanted women to be patient to their partners’ violence to maintain family ties. Nearly two-third assumed conflict between husband and wife was not a matter that someone should involve. About 70% had given care to GBV survivors and they provided only injury treatment (76.1%). A quarter of them experienced sexual violence cases, but only 4.9% and 1.2% provided emergency contraception and Sexually Transmitted Infection treatment. Although nearly two third mentioned about psychological counseling in GBV management, 20% provided counseling services to survivors. Absence of standard GBV management guideline, trained and skilled staff for GBV and counseling room at health facilities were issues mostly stated by the respondents. Conclusions Inadequate knowledge, misconceptions and unfavorable attitudes of GBV among health care providers might deter the effectiveness of GBV management at the health sector. In addition, poor management practice together with no standard management guideline, limited skilled staff, inadequate drug supplies and absence of counseling facilities indicated insufficient readiness to provide quality health care responses to GBV surviours in Myanmar.
