This study examined the performance of State institutions in environmental protection in Taraba State with a view to ascertaining their capacity for environmental protection or otherwise and the challenges undermining their efforts. The study is anchored on the theory of Environmentally Responsible Behaviour (ERB). The study adopted survey research design using field observation and interview schedule. Yearly allocations to the two institutions were compiled from the yearly budget documents of the state. The study findings reveal that the state generate the highest revenue of ₦2billion in 2017 which is about 25% and ₦1billion in 2018, 15.17% of the IGR. These were the pick period of the trade in African Rosewood logs in the state. The huge revenue gave legitimacy to the logging activities and explains why the activity persisted despite the existing forest regulations and efforts to stop it. Despite the huge revenue, findings revealed that it was only in the years 2000, 2013, and 2014 that the Ministry of Environment received up to 4% of the state budgetary allocation. The lowest allocation was in 2002 (0.12%), 2016 (0.15%) and 2007 (0.18%). Findings also reveal huge gap between the budgetary allocation and the actual amount released or expended in the sector. The low budgetary allocation reveals low level of attention paid to environmental issues over the years. The findings of the study reveal that it is only in the area of revenue generation that the state institutions performed relatively well. In terms of staffing, capacity building, infrastructures and equipment, improvement in environmental legislation and enforcement of environmental regulation, the state institutions did not fare well. Based on the findings, the study recommended more political commitment, increase funding, employment of more technically skilled staff and establishment of data bank for environmental inventories in the state.

Nowadays, the automotive industry still incorporates collaborative robots and their applications into the less traditional processes to automate them. The purpose is to make up for the skill gap, retain skilled staff, attract the younger generation, and increase quality. The paper brings a short overview of the automated collaborative workplace, including the PFL technique description and possibilities. Also, human-robot collaboration (HRC) is elaborated together with the example of such an automated workplace (with dual-arm robotic system participation). The specific contact (transient, quasi-static) between the human body and robotic system is described to fulfill the HRC and PFL technique. It also summarizes and explains ISO / TS 15066 details to apply this technique at automated assembly process example.

Romania has about 19 million people, of whom only 5 million are full-time employees, and the labor market estimates a shortage of more than 1 million employees in 2021, according to a study by audit and consulting firm PwC. In this respect, it was considered appropriate to analyze two development macroregions in Romania, which register smallest, respectively the and largest population in terms of national level. The general objective of the research is to identify the macroregion that has a greater potential for making private and even public investments. Gastrointestinal endoscopy has become fundamental procedure for diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases. Generally, the gastrointestinal endoscopy is minimally invasive procedure. However, it can cause considerable amount of discomfort and pain which make the procedure unsafe, complicated and refusal of follow up procedures if done without safe sedation. The sedation is required to alleviate anxiety, provide analgesia, amnesia and to improve endoscopic performance specifically in therapeutic procedures. The safe administration of sedative and analgesic medications, irrespective of the regimen used, requires knowledge of the individual needs of patients. The combination of benzodiazepines and opioids is now the most widely used sedation regimen for sedation in gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures. Generally, sedation for gastrointestinal endoscopy is considered safe, however, it has the potential for serious complications. Therefore, endoscopist should assess the patients properly before the endoscopy as well as should be aware of all possible complications and the risk factors. Furthermore, skilled staff and emergency equipment should be available in endoscopy suit. This chapter discuss in details all the aspects of safe procedural sedation during GI endoscopies.

The main objective of this study was to assess the care of children and child offenders in particular under the Child Rights Law (CRL) of Lagos State in some selected custodial institutions. The study adopted a triangulation approach to collect both primary and secondary data from four purposefully selected Special Correctional Centres between 7th July and 30th September, 2013. Social welfare officers in charge of these custodial institutions were interrogated. Findings revealed that only two Special Children’s Centres had child offenders. Other results include poor living conditions, inadequate recreational facilities, regular visits from parents/guardians and formal and informal education as stipulated in section 52 and 224 (1) of CRL respectively. Major challenges were poor data base, poor security of the premises, shortage of skilled staff and lack of funds and awareness of the services of custodial institutions. Organisation of awareness campaigns, recruitment and capacity building for staff, improvement of living conditions to meet the CRL standard, among others, are recommended.
