IHE has defined more than 200 integration profiles in order to improve the interoperability of application systems in healthcare. These profiles describe how standards should be used in particular use cases. These profiles are very helpful but their correct use is challenging, if the user is not familiar to the specifications. Therefore, inexperienced modelers of information systems quickly lose track of existing IHE profiles. In addition, the users of these profiles are often not aware of rules that are defined within these profiles and of dependencies that exist between the profiles. There are also modelers that do not notice the differences between the implemented actors, because they do not know the optional capabilities of some actors. The aim of this paper is therefore to describe a concept how modelers of information systems can be supported in the selection and use of IHE profiles and how this concept was prototypically implemented in the “Three-layer Graph-based meta model” modeling tool (3LGM2 Tool). The described modeling process consists of the following steps that can be looped: defining the use case, choosing suitable integration profiles, choosing actors and their options and assigning them to application systems, checking for required actor groupings and modeling transactions. Most of these steps were implemented in the 3LGM2 Tool. Further implementation effort and evaluation of our approach by inexperienced users is needed. But after that our tool should be a valuable tool for modelers planning healthcare information system architectures, in particular those based on IHE.

This chapter studies the requirements for a wide range of healthcare information systems, including, but not limited to, clinical pathways management, patient record management, home care management, and medical personnel and resource management. The analysis concentrates on the description and management of medical activities, leaving aside the standard management processes common to all enterprises. It develops a generic architecture for these information systems comprising four central submodels devoted to the description, respectively, of organizational structures, care processes, information, and resources. Each submodel is analysed independently of the others then integrated into a consistent global model. Extensions of this model to other facets of the healthcare information system are discussed and some practical applications are suggested.

The article analyzes the transformation of the medical community’s ideas about the process of implementing MIS and its effectiveness for the period from 1994 to 2020. The features of the introduction of MIS in large medical and preventive associations are considered. There is a need to reorganize the business processes of a medical organization, including clinical processes.

Thanks to the rapid development in the field of information technology, healthcare providers rely more and more on information systems to deliver professional and administrative services. There are high demands for those information systems that provide timely and accurate patient medical information. High-quality healthcare services depend on the ability of the healthcare provider to readily access the information such as a patient’s test results and treatment notes. Failure to access this information may delay diagnosis, resulting in improper treatment and rising costs (Rind et al., 1997). Compared to paper-based patient data, computer-based patient data has more complex security requirements as more technologies are involved. One of the key drivers to systematically enhance the protection of private health information within healthcare providers is compliance with the healthcare information system security standard framework and related legislation. Security standards and legislation of the healthcare information system are critical for ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of private health information (Amatayakul, 1999). Privacy determines who should have access, what constitutes the patient’s rights to confidentiality, and what constitutes inappropriate access to health records. Security is embodied in standards and technology that ensure the confidentiality of healthcare information and enable health data integrity policies to be carried out.

The use of new technologies and information systems within healthcare practice provides several advantages and functionalities for healthcare institutions. However, the use of these advanced technologies is not an easy task and the literature has documented several cases of resistance to adopting such technologies by the healthcare staff. Furthermore, governmental reports stated that Iraq healthcare sector is enduring challenges in this regard. For this reason, the current study explored the opinions of healthcare professionals using semi-structured interviews to highlight the important factors and issues that influence the use and adoption of new technologies within Iraq public healthcare sector. To our best knowledge, this empirical study is the first to employ a qualitative approach to address the issue of healthcare information system adoption in Iraq healthcare domain. Twenty six themes have emerged in the findings of this qualitative study which can be helpful for healthcare seniors in order to overcome the present challenges related to the adoption of healthcare information systems and to improve the healthcare practice in general.

The software is an intermediary between system hardware computer with user as human. Based on the emerging software projects because of the importance of the functions already affects many functions in various aspects. Software projects that have become this need ultimately require management actions to manage the process in the project. Project management is necessary for the success of the project. Bereau Information System PT. X is one part of a company that provides software for functional PT. X. Analysis results from the concept of software project management information systems Bureau at PT. X when the process of designing application systems information accounting PT. X aims to answer how concept of project management Information Systems Bureau in designing the Accounting Information System applications. The methods used in this research is the study of the library with a general empirical approach based on experience and theories related to project management especially in software projects. The conclusions obtained that the activity of the management software on System Information Bureau is in compliance with the application of existing theory, but science is constantly evolving so as to do the development management activities after conducting evaluation regularly for the maintenance of long-term software project.
