Healthy multiple shoot regeneration was observed from petiole-attached cotyledon (PC) explants of CVL-1 on MS containing 0.2 mg/l BAP and 1.0 mg/l IAA. On the other hand, the best response for multiple shoot regeneration in CVE-3 was obtained when the same explants were cultured on MS with 2.5 mg/l BAP and 0.5 mg/l NAA. However, the same explant of D-154 was found to show less responsive compared to other two varieties to produce multiple shoots. Cotyledonary nodal explants of all the three varieties were found to produce maximum number of multiple shoots on MS supplemented with 0.2 mg/l BAP and 1.0 mg/l IAA. Best root induction was observed at the base of the in vitro regenerated shoots on half the strength of MS supplemented with 0.3 mg/l IBA. The in vitro grown plantlets were successfully transplanted into soil. Efforts have been made to establish a protocol for direct multiple shoot regeneration from both in vitro grown seedlings and mature plants of Citrus macroptera. Both nodal and shoot tip explants taken from in vitro grown seedlings were cultured in MS supplemented with different concentrations of BAP and Kn either singly or in combinations. Both these explants are capable to regenerate and produce in vitro multiple shoots. Maximum number of shoots were obtained from nodal explants in MS supplemented with 1.0 mg/l BAP. BAP alone was found superior to Kn. On the other hand, only nodal explants from mature plants were used and 1.0 mg/1 BAP was also found best suitable for shoot induction and multiplication. Investigation on in vitro multiple shoot regeneration in Bacopa monnieri (L.) Penn. using leaf and nodal explants was carried out on MS containing various concentrations and combinations of BAP, Kn, NAA and 2,4-D. Of the two explants, leaf showed the best response towards shoot regeneration and subsequent plant development on MS with 1.0 mg/l BAP and 0.25 mg/l Kn. In this combination, the mean number of shoots/explant was 10.6 ± 0.11 in leaf and 9.6 ± 0.29 in nodal explants. Maximum shoot length was recorded as 12.6 ± 0.21 and 11.20 ± 0.30 from leaf and nodal explants after six weeks of culture, respectively. Half strength of MS supplemented with 0.25 mg/l IBA was found to be the best medium for root formation. MS with different concentrations and combinations of hormones were used for in vitro multiple shoot regeneration in two varieties of Brassica juncea, namely, BARI Sarisha-11 and BARI Sarisha-16 and one variety of Brassica campestris, Tori-7. The highest percentage of responsive explants towards the regeneration of shoots was obtained on MS with 2.0 mg/l BAP, 0.2 mg/l NAA and 0.5 mg/l Kn in case of BARI Sarisha-11 and BARI Sarisha-16. For Tori-7, 3.0 mg/l BAP and 0.2 mg/l NAA was best for obtaining maximum number of shoots per explant. Among three varieties, BARI Sarisha-11 showed best response in terms of shoot regeneration as well as number of shoot per explant. Days required for induction of shoots was also recorded to be lowest in BARI Sarisha-11. Best root induction in BARI Sarisha-11 and BARI Sarisha-16 was achieved on hormone free MS. After proper hardening the in vitro regenerated plantlets were successfully transplanted into soil. Interestingly some of the in vitro regenerated shoots produced in vitro flowers on regeneration media as well as hormone free MS. A simple, repeatable and efficient protocol for direct multiple shoot regeneration from internodal explants has been defined in peppermint ( Mentha x piperita var. Indus). In vitro regenerated shoots of peppermint were excised into 4 to 8 mm long internodes and cultured on Murashige and Skoog's medium supplemented with different cytokinins. In the hormonal assay, 3.0 mg L-l zeatin or 6-isopentenyl adenine independently supplemented to half strength MS medium exhibited multiple shoot regeneration, while thiaduzorn (0.1-3.0 mg L−1) showed no morphogenetic effect. A maximum of 85% in vitro cultured explants showed multiple shoot formation with an average of 7 shoots per explant on MS medium supplemented with zeatin. Multiple shoots were initiated within three weeks of cultivation. Internodes with regenerated multiple shoots were transferred to half - strength MS medium without supplementing with any plant growth hormone for shoot elongation and rhizogenesis. Rooted plants acclimatized and grew to maturity under glasshouse conditions. The plantlets developed were phenotypically identical to the parent plant and exhibited 96 % survival.

An in vitro regeneration protocol was developed for two high-yielding eggplant varieties (Solanum melongena L.) namely BARI begun-4 and BARI begun-6. Multiple shoots were regenerated from cotyledonary explants through organogenesis with growth regulators of different combinations and concentrations.  The best response towards multiple shoot regeneration was achieved from cotyledon explants on MS media complemented with 1 mg/l BAP + 0.2 mg/l IAA in both the two varieties of eggplant. Elongation of shoots was achieved on hormone free MS medium. Regenerated shoots of both the varieties produced   active in vitro root system on half strength of MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/l IBA.  The in vitro grown plantlets were acclimatized in soil, grew up to maturity, flowered, fruited and produced seeds as normal healthy plant like the control.

In vitro regeneration system was developed through direct organogenesis from decapitated mature embryo explants of locally grown four chickpea varieties, namely, Barichhola-4, Hyprochhola, Binachhola-3 and Binachhola-4. Best response towards multiple shoot regeneration was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l BAP, 0.5 mg/l Kn, 0.2 mg/l NAA along with double concentrations of CaCl2 and NH4NO3. However good shoot health and expanded leaf was found on MS medium containing 1.0 mg/l kn. Apart from this, few experiments were conducted with decapitated embryo attached cotyledon. Using this explants highest number of multiple shoots were obtained on MSB medium containing 4× micronutrients of MS medium with 3.0 mg/l BAP and 0.04 mg/l NAA in all four varieties. Shoots regenerated on 1.0 mg/l kn supplemented medium showed good response towards rooting on MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/l IBA in all four varieties. It was observed that micrografting is an alternative technique to in vitro rooting in chickpea. Key words: In vitro regeneration; Decapitated embryo; Chickpea. Efficientin Vitro direct multiple shoot regeneration from Solanum pubescens was achieved from leaf explants on MS medium Sublimated with B5 vitamins and different concentrations and different combinations of PGRs like BAP, NAA and GA3. The maximum numbers of multiple shoots were achieved from leaf explants on 3.0 mg/l BAP + 1.0mg/l GA3. The regenerated shoots were transferred in to half strength MS medium fortified with IBA for root induction. Rooted plantlets were successfully acclimatized. This new and transfer into the field Conditions. Standardized and reproducible protocol useful the mass propagation of Solanum pubescens.

An in vitro multiple shoot regeneration protocol has been developed for Centella asiatica L. Urban from the nodal and shoot tips explants using MS medium with different concentrations and combinations of growth regulators. Multiple shoot regeneration was observed from both the explants on MS containing either BAP alone or in combination with IAA, NAA and Kn. Of the two explants, nodal segment showed comparatively better response towards multiple shoot regeneration. Maximum multiple shoots were found on MS supplemented with 1.0 mg/L BAP and 0.4 mg/L NAA. For root induction, well-developed shoots were excised and cultured on both MS and half strength of MS with various concentrations of IBA, IAA and NAA. Profuse healthy rooting was obtained on MS medium containing 0.2 mg/L IBA. A reproducible in vitro regeneration system was developed for three varieties of Brassica campestris L. namely Agrani, BINA Sarisha-10 and BINA Sarisha-6 using hypocotyl and cotyledonary leaf with petiole as explants. MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l BAP and 0.2 mg/l IAA was found to be the best for the multiple shoot formation for all the three varieties. Among three varieties, BINA Sarisha-6 showed best response in terms of shoot regeneration as well as number of shoots per explant (9.0) using hypocotyls as explants. In case of Agrani and BINA Sarisha-10 highest number of shoot per explants were found 8.2 and 7.0, respectively. Interestingly in vitro regenerated shoots of BINA Sarisha-6 and BINA Sarisha-10 were produced in vitro flowers on shoot regeneration media. Best root induction in BINA Sarisha-6, Agrani and BINA Sarisha-10 was achieved on MS media supplemented with 0.5 mg/l IBA. High frequency of calli was obtained from leaf and spadix segments of Anthurium andraeanum L. when cultured on N6 medium containing 2.5 mg/l BAP and 0.2 mg/l 2,4-D in dark condition. The calli were maintained in dark condition on the same medium containing same hormonal supplements by sub-culturing up to three months but no shoot formation occurred during this period. Leaf and spadix segments derived calli were then tried for multiple shoot regeneration by culturing onto MS fortified with BAP and Kn singly or in combination with NAA in light condition. Best response towards multiple shoot regeneration was observed from both leaf and spadix segments derived calli on MS  fortified with 1.0 mg/l BAP. In this combination an average of 18 shoot buds  regenerated from leaf segment derived callus while 14 shoot buds  regenerated from spadix segment derived callus. The number of shoot buds increased three to four-folds after subculturing in the same medium. Regenerated multiple shoots were excised and cultured onto half strength of MS with different concentrations of IBA and IAA for root induction. Best root development was obtained in half strength MS containing 1.0 mg/l IBA.
