Abstract Transplanting time and genotype contribute to improving crop yield and quality of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). A field experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of foliar applied of triacontanol (TRIA) and eggplant genotypes 25919, Nirala, 28389 and Pak-10927,transplanted on 1 March,15 March, and 1 April on exposure to high air temperature conditions. The experiment was performed according to Randomized Complete Block Design and the data was analyzed by using Tuckey,s test . The TRIA was applied at 10µM at flowering stage; distilled water was used as the control. Rate of photosynthesis and transpiration, stomatal conductance, water use efficiency, and effects on antioxidative enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase and peroxidase) were evaluated. The 10µM TRIA increased photosynthesis rate and water use efficiency and yield was improved in all genotypes transplanted at the different dates. Foliar application of 10µM TRIA increased antioxidative enzyme activities (SOD, POD & CAT) and improved physiological as well as biochemical attributes of eggplant genotypes exposed to high heat conditions. Highest activity of dismutase enzyme 5.41mg/1g FW was recorded in Nirala genotype in second transplantation. Whereas, lowest was noted in PAK-10927 (2.30mg/g FW). Maximum fruit yield was found in accession 25919 (1.725kg per plant) at 1st transplantation with Triacontanol, whereas accession PAK-10927 gave the lowest yield (0.285 kg per plant) at control treatment on 3rd transplantation. Genotype, transplanting date and application of TRIA improved growth, yield and quality attributes under of heat stress in eggplant.

The growth, haematological and serum characteristics of Cobb broilers (n = 112) fed inclusions of ripe Solanum melongena fruit meal (SMFM) varieties were incorporated in a 56-day trial. The completely randomized design was employed in assigning day-old chicks to four labeled groups (T1-T4) with four replications. Dietary treatment of SMFM varieties was according to study groups such that T1 had Abia var. Okpokwe, T2 contained Nsukka Ind × Jos, T3 enclosed Nsukka Ind × Nsukka Local, while T4 was control. Daily feed intake and weekly weights furnished the growth assay of the chicks, while their blood assessment was done at the termination of the study. Data analyzed showed T4 to have better (p < 0.05) final weights (2740.50 g), feed intake (131.39 g) and weight gain (48.13 g) than SMFM groups. Red blood cell count was highest (p < 0.05) in T2 and T3 (10.87 × 106 and 10.88 × 106 mm3, respectively) and lowly in T1 and T4 (10.04 × 106 mm3 each). Haemoglobin concentration was highest (p < 0.05) in T2 and T3 (8.73, 8.98 g dL–) and lowest in T4 (7.55 g dL–1). Treated birds had better (p < 0.05) serum cholesterol and lipoproteins than the control. Triglyceride of T4 (117.75 g dL–1) was different (p < 0.05) from T1 and T2 (107.00, 107.67 g dL–1) but similar (p > 0.05) to T3 (109.00 g dL–1). The SMFM varieties, mostly Nsukka Ind × Jos (T2), independently promoted superior haematology and serum lipid profile but poor growth of test broilers.

Pupuk organik cair adalah larutan yang berasal dari sisa pembusukan bahan-bahan organik yang berasal dari sisa tanaman, kotoran hewan yang kandungan unsur haranya lebih dari satu unsur. Tujuan dari kaji widya ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi pupuk organik cair sirih dan gamal terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman terung ungu (Solanum melongena L.). Metode kajian ini dilaksanakan di lahan Anggota Kelompok Tani Borong, Kelurahan Romang Lompoa, Kacamatan Bontomarannu, Kabupaten Gowa pada bulan Maret sampai Juni 2021. Kajian dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, sehingga didapatkan 12 jumlah plot perlakuan yaitu P0 (tanpa pemberian/kontrol), P1 (0,2 l/Ha /300 ml/Liter air/petak), P2 (0,4 l/Ha / 600 m/Liter air/petak) dan P3 (6 l/Ha setara dengan 900 ml/Liter air/petak). Hasil kaji widya menunjukkan bahwa: Respons petani pada aplikasi  pupuk organik cair sirih dan gamal terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman terung ungu (Solanum melongena L) terbaik adalah perlakuan (P3) dengan dosis 900 ml/Liter air/petak.
