ABSTRACTObjective: The growing concern over the burden of psychiatric illnesses in health statistics elicit the importance of rational prescribing of psychotropicdrugs. Due to the minimal number of studies conducted in this area, the present study was carried out to assess the morbidity pattern and prescribingtrend of drugs used in psychiatric outpatients.Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted for a period of 6-month in a psychiatric outpatient department. The medical recordsof 202 patients were reviewed for analyzing the prescription pattern using the World Health Organization drug indicators, wherein patients werecategorized according to the International Classification of Diseases-10 criteria.Results: In the present study, 129 (63.9%) of the 202 patients were males. The majority of the patients (36.63%) were in the age group of 25-35 years.Substance-related disorders (28.71%) were the most common psychiatric disorders followed by schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders(22.77%). Anxiolytics and hypnotics (31.99%) were the most commonly prescribed psychotropic drug class followed by antipsychotics (20.2%) andantidepressants (18.18%) with clonazepam (47.89%), risperidone (42.5%), and escitalopram (57.4%) being the most common drugs, respectively.Polypharmacy was found in 93.56% of the prescriptions with an average of 3.396 drugs/prescription. Generic drug usage (39.94%) was found to below when compared to the brand drug usage (60.05%).Conclusion: Benzodiazepines were the most commonly used psychotropic drugs. Polypharmacy, although practiced as a treatment strategy tomanage psychiatric illnesses, predisposes patients to adverse events and adherence issues.Keywords: Drug utilization pattern, Psychotropic drugs, Polypharmacy, Psychiatric outpatients.

This paper present empirical research result on factors affecting the quality of medical service at the Outpatient Department of some public hospitals in Hanoi. This reserch based on the SERVQUAL model and conduct with 140 patients and 140 patient’s family members who came to these hospitals. The result show that Assurance and Tangible have the most impact to the quality of medical service. We analyze the mean value of the result and see that the Tangible factor has the lowest value and it is the patients and their family members most perceptive factor. Therefore, we focus on analyzing, interpreting and proposing a number of micro and macro solutions to manage the Tangible factor to help improving the quality of healthcare service throughly but sequentially through each step, each zone.

This study aimed to evaluate the factors influencing women to avail antenatal care among women attending outpatient department (OPD), of private sector hospitals in Hyderabad. This was an interview-based survey conducted during a period of six months (from1stJuly 2019 to 31st December 2019) at OPD of private sector Hospital in Hyderabad. All the pregnant women and their female companions attending the antenatal OPD were included. Those women who regretted being part of the study were excluded. Participants of the study were interviewed regarding the knowledge and factors affecting utilization of antenatal care among women attending OPD as defined in a pre-set questionnaire. All the data was recorded in self-made proforma and analyzed by using SPSS version 20. A total of 500 pregnant women were interviewed regarding awareness of antenatal care. The study participants were grouped according to their age, 3% were 15-20 years of age, 30.9% were 21-30 years of age, 34.5% were 31-40 years of age and 31.5% were more than 41 years of age. Out of those who did not avail antenatal care, 8.5% were not allowed due to family restrictions, 47.3% reported ignorance, 9.7% lived far away from the facility, 24.2% could not afford it and 10.3% had other reasons of not availing antenatal care. The study concluded that the main reason for not utilizing antenatal care was ignorance by the women as well as their family members; affordability was also an important factors in a considerable number of participants.

Abstract Food hawking businesses around the world largely contribute to the economy of countries and provides much needed jobs that feed employment, even though earnings are low. The food hawking business in Malaysia is under threat of extinction due to the reluctance of the next generation in taking over the food hawking businesses from the elderships. As research in the area of family business succession is scarce, this study serves to add to the theoretical aspect of the area. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of vending environment, operating hours, successor willingness, relationship among family members and preparation level of heir on the intention of family succession in the food hawking business in Malaysia. Leader’s approval was also studied as a potential moderator. The methodology used was a questionnaire survey study design with a sample size of 208, respondents were obtained via convenience sampling from Kuala Lumpur and Penang as hawkers are abundant in these two locations. Findings show that vending environment, successor willingness, relationship among family members and preparation level of heir have a significant effect on the intention of family succession in the food hawking business in Malaysia. Leader’s approval was found to be insignificant as a moderator. Operating hours was not significant, possibly due to the difference in importance placed by Malaysian hawkers in succession.

Proper soil management is germane to sustainable vegetable production. The greatest threat to sustainable agricultural productivity is the declining soil productivity. The reason for this declining soil productivity might not be unconnected with the soil management practices by farmers. This study attempts to isolate factors that are contributing to vegetable farmers’ adoption of soil management practices. Primary data were collected from purposively selected 120 fluted pumpkin vegetable farmers, adopting pre-tested semi-structured interview schedule in Ikorodu Local Government Area. This is predicated on the facts that Ikorodu environment seems to be well adapted for fluted pumpkin production as many hectares of land are cultivated to fluted pumpkin by hundreds of small holders. Probit regression model was used to isolate factors affecting the adoption of sustainable soil management practices. Overall, the model predicted 85.76% of the sample correctly. The findings of the study revealed that number of economically active family members, farmers’ education, livestock holding, membership in farmer's group and credit availability were significantly positive while age of farmer negatively affect adoption of sustainable soil management practice. A unit increased in economically active family members, years of education and livestock standard unit would increase the probability of adoption of technology by 21.3, 5.8 and 7.6% respectively. Likewise, if farmers were made member in the groups and credit made available, the probability of adoption of technology would increase by 46.2 and 46.3% respectively. But a unit increase in the age of household head would decrease the level of adoption by 1.4% indicating old aged farmers do not adopt innovative technologies in agriculture.Keywords: Lagos, adoption, probit, sustainable soil management, vegetable, fluted pumpkin

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to identify independent factors associated with prolonged recovery time after intravenous sedation for dental treatment in patients with intellectual disabilities.Methods:This study was designed as a prospective cohort study. Participants were patients with intellectual disabilities, for whom sedation for dental treatment was planned in Okayama University Hospital. The outcome variable was recovery time. The predictor variables were patient background, antiepileptic and psychotropic drugs, and anesthesia-related variables. Factors affecting the outcome were examined with multiple regression analysis.Results:We enrolled 260 cases in this study. Oral midazolam was a strong independent determinant in prolonged recovery time. Teeth extraction, short treatment time and lower body mass index were significant independent predictors of prolonged recovery time.Conclusion:Oral midazolam is a clear independent determinant of prolonged recovery time after sedation, while psychotropic drugs and antiepileptic drugs were not independent determinants in this study.
