This research evaluates the operational heating and cooling energy consumption of cross-laminated timber (CLT) office buildings in China. The evaluations involve a comparison of the energy consumption of a reference RC structure and CLT system office buildings. Computational simulation results are based on IES-VE 2019 and show that the estimated heating energy saving ratio of CLT buildings in Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai, and Kunming to the reference structure are 11.97%, 22.11%, 30.94%, and 23.30% respectively. However, the CLT buildings consume more energy for cooling in the summer. The results of the research show significantly higher heating energy reductions for CLT buildings in the Cold Region and Severe Cold Regions of China. Thus, the application of the CLT system is better suited to northern China than southern China. The results of the research can be used in further assessment of the use of CLT systems in different climatic regions in China.

Chinese rural construction is currently booming, but faces considerable challenges in terms of energy performance. The objective of this research was to analyze the energy performance of tubular houses, which are a unique type of rural house in southern China, with a particular architectural form and environmental adaptations. Previous field measurements showed that there was much room for improvement, with both winter and summer cases requiring particular attention. Numerical simulations of the annual energy consumption were conducted using Open-Studio. The results show that various levels of reduction in energy consumption (varying from 1.6% to 30.5%) were achieved by combining different renovations. Among them, using solar energy with a sunroom was found to be the most effective approach, with an energy-saving rate of 28%, followed by the approach of attaching insulation to the walls and roof, with an energy-saving rate ranging from 13.2% to 30.5%. The integrated optimization measures had an energy-saving rate of 47.4% with a total renovation cost of CNY 41,143.1, and the payback period of investment was within five years. If a tubular house with improved thermal insulation can be inherited as a component in the process of urbanization, it will aid in energy conservation and natural ecosystem protection for southern China.

In this paper, the Unicom's medium-sized IDC room in a city of northern China is the research object for the study. Based on field research of the room refrigeration conditions, data center room air conditioning system is carried out to optimize and for energy conservation research. Through the analytic methods of energy saving-technology, the best energy saving solutions is explored.

Daylighting systems offer tremendous potential for reducing the energy consumption of electric lighting, but their usage has been inhibited by high costs and imperfect performance of current technologies. This paper presents predictions of energy savings for two proposed daylighting technologies, a daylight-sensing switch and an automatic blinds system, which employ simple, inexpensive components and designs. Assumptions of solar irradiance, blind position, blind operation behaviour, and light switching behaviour were combined with illuminance data and daylight factors to develop an algorithm for calculating the potential energy usages of six different systems in commercial private offices and open plan offices. Results show that the combined usage of the proposed technologies perform with an average annual energy saving of 24% compared with manual switching and blinds operation in Albany, New York. Compared with a photosensor-operated dimming system, the proposed technologies combined show better performance during summer months. Comparisons were also made for the systems in six US climatic regions.

The paper gives energy consumption indexes of government organization office buildings at the current stage, and then analyses energy-saving potential of office buildings. Further, it discusses building consumption has a correlation between the heating form of air conditioning and personnel density. Finally, the paper presents the energy consumption quota and the formulating method of using energy quota of state organ office buildings at the current stage.

Facing the huge energy consumption of buildings, it is highly practical to study every aspect of energy-saving technologies for heating and cooling devices. Solar thermal technology and air/water source heat pump are two popular energy-saving technologies, which could be combined into a composite heating system with good energy-saving effect and efficiency. This paper constructs a solar-air source composite heating system, analyzes its thermodynamic features, and builds up the corresponding thermodynamic model. In addition, the authors modeled the daytime and nighttime heat balances, as well as the monthly cumulative heat supply for the constructed system. Finally, a dual-tank composite heating system was designed with independent heat supply/storage. The proposed models and system were proved valid and scientific through experiments.

The pharmaceutical industry building adopts the centralized air conditioning system with the characteristics of complicated structure, numerous equipments, relatively concentrated, high level of energy consumption, flexibility larger. In this paper, a clean air conditioning system of freeze-dried powder production workshop at a pharmaceutical company in northern China was been as an example. Energy consumption before and after the use of energy saving technology was been compared. The energy consumption and energy efficiency was been argument. It was a very good reference to other pharmaceutical companies.
