The advancement of women to top management positions positively affects firm competitiveness. However, this advancement may also negatively affect individuals as women find themselves forced to overwork to match their male counterparts in organisations, which can cause a decrease in their professional well-being. Although the literature highlights that human resource practices (HRPs) have a positive impact on well-being, it also warns that national institutions may condition the adoption of HRPs by organisations. If that is true, institutions may become either a challenge to—or trigger for—female managers’ well-being. Accordingly, this study analyses the effects of institutions and the mediating effects of HRPs on the influence that is exerted by institutions on well-being. The empirical analysis, which was carried out on a sample of 575 female managers located in 27 European countries, confirms the direct and indirect effects (through HRPs for work–life balance and role clarity) of institutions on female managers’ well-being at work.

Work Life Balance (WLB) is the current biggest problem being faced by the corporate employees. This research aims to evaluate the challenges of WLB that an employee has to face in his daily life, meanwhile what role does Emotional Intelligence (EI) play and to see how organizations can initiate to support them to improve their WLB and make them satisfied of their job. It aims to find out the impact of EI employee Job Satisfaction (JS) in the presence of WLB of corporate employees in Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta. To fulfill this purpose, quantitative methodology was adopted, 300 questionnaires were distributed, and SPSS version 22 was used to analyse data. The results indicate that EI has significant and positive impact on employee JS whether in the presence or absence of WLB. Finally, the results of ANOVA test between male and female employees are statistically different for WLB and EI but no significant difference between the genders was statistically found for JS. There is also no significance difference observed between marital status for EI, WLB and JS. From the findings of the research, some solutions are recommended to improve employees WLB for their job satisfaction in corporate sector.

This article tends to fill the existing knowledge gap in understanding if work-life balance (WLB) can not only make a direct impact on employee well-being, but also play a mediating role between work culture and well-being. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of WLB on the relationship between the structural dimensions of work culture – temporal flexibility, supportive supervision and operational flexibility – and employee well-being. The data were collected on the basis of a survey of employees employed by business and public sector organisations in Lithuania. The research revealed that all the components of work culture were important factors in defining employee well-being, had a strong direct impact on well-being and affected WLB. The results demonstrated that a direct effect of work culture on well-being was much stronger than the one moderated by an indirect effect of WLB. The findings also suggest that family-friendly culture can help employees to reach a better WLB, which, in its turn, assists employees in feeling higher satisfaction with general well-being at work. The current study expands the role of WLB as a mediator in organisational settings and its findings may be important for practitioners who seek to improve the performance of their organisation by enhancing the well-being of employees.

Work-Life balance has its importance from ancient days and the concept is very old, from the day the world has been created. There was a drastic change that has occurred in the market of teachers and their personal profiles. There are tremendous changes in various families which have bartered from the ‘breadwinner’ role of traditional men to single parent families and dual earning couples. This study furnishes an insight into work life balance and job satisfaction of teachers working in School of Villupuram District. The sample comprises of 75 school teachers from Government and private schools in Villupuram District. The Study results that there is increasing mediating evidence in Work-life balance as well as Job satisfaction of teachers are not affected by the type of school in which they are working. Job satisfaction or Pleasure of life will be affected as a whole by Work life balance of an individual which is the main which can be calculated by construct of subjective well being.

The positive psychological response to a stressor, by the occurrence of certain psychological conditions, is known as eustress. Many psychological studies suggest that the eustress can aid the person to stay motivated and achieve the goal without any psychological draining. In the present study, mediating effect of eustress on personal and organisational factors of public sector banks’ employees is investigated. Nearly 600 respondents from different banks in South India were selected randomly and the data are collected through the questionnaires. The collected data were used to analyse the formulated hypothesis. The research establishes that the relationship between individual and organisational factors and work-life balance is positive and gets enhanced and strengthened by eustress in the public banking sector.
