In this paper, we propose a new synthetic sampling plan assuming that the quality characteristic follows the normal distribution with known and unknown standard deviation. The proposed plan is given and the operating characteristic (OC) function is derived to measure the performance of the proposed sampling plan for some fixed parameters. The parameters of the proposed sampling plan are determined using non-linear optimization solution. A real example is added to explain the use of the proposed plan by industry.

AbstractIn this work, we investigate a double acceptance sampling plan (DASP) based on truncated life tests when the lifetime of a product follows the half normal distribution. By fixing the consumer’s confidence level, the minimum sample sizes of the first and second samples needful to assert the specified mean life are calculated. The operating characteristic values and the minimum ratios of the mean life to the specified life are also analyzed. Several important tables are provided and a numerical example is given to illustrate the results.

The acceptance sampling plan plays an important role in maintaining the high quality of a product. The variable control chart, using classical statistics, helps in making acceptance or rejection decisions about the submitted lot of the product. Furthermore, the sampling plan, using classical statistics, assumes the complete or determinate information available about a lot of product. However, in some situations, data may be ambiguous, vague, imprecise, and incomplete or indeterminate. In this case, the use of neutrosophic statistics can be applied to guide the experimenters. In this paper, we originally proposed a new variable sampling plan using the neutrosophic interval statistical method. The neutrosophic operating characteristic (NOC) is derived using the neutrosophic normal distribution. The optimization solution is also presented for the proposed plan under the neutrosophic interval method. The effectiveness of the proposed plan is compared with the plan under classical statistics. The tables are presented for practical use and a real example is given to explain the neutrosophic fuzzy variable sampling plan in the industry.

AbstractA double acceptance sampling plan (DASP) based on truncated life tests is suggested in this paper when the lifetime of a product follows the exponentiated generalized inverse Rayleigh distribution (EGIR). For a fixed value of the consumer’s confidence level, the minimum sample sizes of the first and second samples needed to ensure the specified mean life are obtained. The operating characteristic values according to the different quality levels are obtained and the minimum ratios of the mean life to the specified life are calculated. The important tables based on the suggested DASP are calculated and illustrated.

Acceptance sampling is one of the essential areas of quality control. In a conventional environment, probability theory is used to study acceptance sampling plans. In some situations, it is not possible to apply conventional techniques due to vagueness in the values emerging from the complexities of processor measurement methods. There are two types of acceptance sampling plans: attribute and variable. One of the important elements in attribute acceptance sampling is the proportion of defective items. In some situations, this proportion is not a precise value, but vague. In this case, it is suitable to apply flexible techniques to study the fuzzy proportion. Fuzzy set theory is used to investigate such concepts. It is observed there is no research available to apply Birnbaum-Saunders distribution in fuzzy acceptance sampling. In this article, it is assumed that the proportion of defective items is fuzzy and follows the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution. A single acceptance sampling plan, based on binomial distribution, is used to design the fuzzy operating characteristic (FOC) curve. Results are illustrated with examples. One real-life example is also presented in the article. The results show the behavior of curves with different combinations of parameters of Birnbaum-Saunders distribution. The novelty of this study is to use the probability distribution function of Birnbaum-Saunders distribution as a proportion of defective items and find the acceptance probability in a fuzzy environment. This is an application of Birnbaum-Saunders distribution in fuzzy acceptance sampling.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a group acceptance sampling plan (GASP) for a resubmitted lot when the lifetime of a product follows odds exponential log logistic distribution introduced by Rao and Rao (2014). The parameters of the proposed plan such as minimum group size and acceptance number are determined for a pre-specified consumer’s risk, number of testers and the test termination time. The authors compare the proposed plan with the ordinary GASP, and the results are illustrated with live data example. Findings The authors determined the group size and acceptance number. Research limitations/implications No specific limitations.
