In this study, new theoretical conceptions have been developed about an impurity segregation mechanism at the time of alloy solidification considering present microvolumes with different chemical compositions during alloy solidification. It has been concluded that this conception allows to establish and optimize technologic parameters that influence the production of the main types of macro-heterogeneity. The derived model conceptions have confirmed the final condition of real continuous casting billets by using the advanced analyzing methods.

Highlights

· The quasi-equilibrium theory used to study the hardening processes of alloys has been expanded and improved.
· The development of a numerical model for macrosegregation impurities in solidifying continuous casting billet is suggested.
· The adequacy of the developed model is checked under the industrial conditions using comparison theoretical
· calculations and practical data.
· The results and developments that are obtained are discussed.

In order to predict and control the temperature of continuous casting slab, a mathematical heat transfer model simulating the solidification process of continuous casting slab has been developed based on the realistic roller-layout and spray nozzle distribution. And the accuracy has been verified by comparing with the pin-shooting experiment results. An advanced control strategies are adopted to achieve the optimization of water quantity under different production conditions by the integration of energy saving water distribution module and slab temperature optimization module in the dynamic secondary cooling model. The total water consumption has a trend of dropping off after the utilization of the optimization technique. And the slab surface temperature increases which fits for the down stream direct hot rolling.

This contribution deals with the analysis of the renovation layer quality of continuous casting steel rollers, developed through the submerged arc surfacing method (SAW). The continuous casting roller was analysed through the degradation phenomena which act during the operation. Four kinds of filler materials were used for the renovation of the worn roller. Surfacing was carried out as a three-layer in order to eliminate the need for intermediate layer formation. The quality of weld deposits was evaluated in terms of the structure and microhardness after thermal cyclic loading. The best properties showed newly developed filler material W8-WLDC8 from point of view of the microhardness.
