Актуальность. Среди инвалидизирующих осложнений миопии атрофическая макулопатия занимает одно из лидирующих мест. Выявление взаимосвязи между состоянием хориоидеи и макулярного пигмента поможет в разработке методов выявления группы риска миопических атрофических макулярных изменений. Цель. Выяснение наличия взаимосвязи между количественными показателями состояния макулярного пигмента и толщиной хориоидеи у молодых пациентов с миопической рефракцией. Материал и методы. Обследовано 36 пациентов (36 глаз) молодого возраста с миопией. Кроме стандартных методов обследования пациентам проводилось измерение размера переднезадней оси (ПЗО) глаза, толщины хориоидеи, показателей состояния макулярного пигмента. Результаты. Выявлена прямая корреляция между размерами ПЗО и площадью распределения макулярного пигмента (r=0,489, p<0,01), объемом оптической плотности макулярного пигмента (r=0,397, p<0,05); обратная корреляция между толщиной хориоидеи, площадью распределения макулярного пигмента и объемом оптической плотности макулярного пигмента (r=-0,421, p<0,05 и r=-0,415, p<0,05 соответственно). Не выявлено корреляции между показателем оптической плотности макулярного пигмента и толщиной хориоидеи, размерами ПЗО. Это не укладывается в традиционное понимание того, что атрофический процесс наружных слоев сетчатки связан с недостатком их кровоснабжения, а, следовательно, с истончением хориоидеи. Выводы. По мере возрастания размеров ПЗО и уменьшения толщины хориоидеи увеличивается площадь распределения макулярного пигмента и объем его оптической плотности, хотя закономерных изменений оптической плотности макулярного пигмента не выявлено. Дальнейшие исследования динамики изменений макулярных пигментов при осевой миопии могут помочь в разработке методов прогнозирования формирования миопических изменений макулярной зоны

Objective: Regarding the effect of obesity on subfoveal choroidal thickness (CT) and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, controversial results have been reported in different patient groups. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of obesity on these parameters among young male subjects in comparison with age-matched non-obese healthy males. Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional study included both eyes of 50 obese young males and 50 healthy non-obese young males. The obese and the non-obese groups included subjects with a BMI of ⩾30 and ⩽25 kg/m², respectively. Subfoveal choroidal thickness and RNFL analyses were conducted by spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). Results: Subfoveal choroidal thickness (321.0 ± 46.7 vs 338.4±35.3, p = 0.002) and RNFL thickness at temporal quadrant (73.4 ± 9.9 vs 76.4 ± 9.3, p = 0.008) was significantly lower in the obese group when compared to the non-obese group. The groups did not differ regarding peripapillary RNFL thickness at other quadrants (superior, inferior, or nasal) or regarding mean peripapillary RNFL thickness. Conclusion: Findings of this study demonstrated a negative correlation of obesity with subfoveal choroidal thickness and temporal quadrant peripapillary RNFL thickness. Larger studies on different patient groups with longer-term follow-up are warranted to better elucidate the ophthalmological effects of obesity.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> Our aim was to evaluate the changes in choroidal thickness (CT) and volume (CV) following aerobic physical exercise in healthy young adults. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> This study included 72 eyes from healthy volunteers between 22 and 37 years old. Using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, total physical activity was computed. Measurements using an autorefractometer, ocular biometry, and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography using the Enhanced Depth Imaging protocol were taken. OCT was performed as a baseline measurement and after performing 10 min of dynamic physical exercise (3 and 10 min post-exercise). The choroidal layer was manually segmented, and the CT and CV in different areas from the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study grid were obtained. <b><i>Results:</i></b> In healthy adults, at 3 min post-exercise, CT was higher in the subfoveal, the 3-mm nasal, and the 6-mm superior areas. Between 3 and 10 min post-exercise, the CT was reduced in all areas, and in some areas, the values were even smaller than the baseline measurements. The CV values showed changes after exercise similar to those of thickness. The total CV recovery after exercise was related to sex and physical activity level. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> Individuals with higher physical activity habits had greater CV at rest than those with lower physical activity levels. During exercise, healthy young people adjust CT and CV. At 3 min post-exercise, CT and CV increase. Women and individuals with greater physical activity levels reduce their total CV more than others during recovery.
