A new species of freshwater amphipod belonging to genus Hyalella is described from a peatbog at high altitudes (3,650 to 4,400 m above sea level) in the Puna region (Salta province, northwestern Argentina). The new species can be distinguished from other hyalellid species by the following combination of characters: dorso-posterior flanges on pleonites I–III; palp on maxilla 1 reaching almost half of distance between base of palp and base of setae on outer plate, and two papposerrate setae on the inner margin of inner plate of maxilla 2; propodus of gnathopod 1 hammer-shaped, inner face with seven serrate setae; propodus of gnathopod 2 ovate; male uropod 1 without curved seta on inner side of inner ramus; ramus of uropod 3 shorter than peduncle; six pair of sternal gills on pereionites II–VII. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of the new species are provided. In Argentina, the new species represents the third record for the genus at altitudes greater than 2,000 m a.s.l., after H.kochi and H.fossamancinii (Dos Santos et al. 2008, González 2003), and the first record above 4,000 m a.s.l. Some comments about distributional and ecological aspects of the new species are included. With this new species, the number of Hyalella species known from Argentina and Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) rises to 12.

Stenogiffardia bifurca sp. nov. is described from a series of specimens collected in the former Antananarivo, Fianarantsoa, and Toliara Provinces of Madagascar. This is the first record of the genus,Evans, 1977 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae) from Madagascar, which is now the third genus of the tribe Chiasmini known from the island. The distribution of,is analyzed and an identification key to species is given.,Evans, 1977 is removed from synonymy with,(Kirkaldy, 1906).

Acarospora malouina Øvstedal & K. Knudsen is described from the Falkland Islands. It is morphologically very similar to the Antarctic species A. gwynnii but differs in chemistry, ecology and evidence from molecular data.

AbstractA new species of the genus Antarctobius Fairmaire (1885) from Islas Malvinas (Falkland Islands) is described and illustrated: A. malvinensis Posadas and Morrone n. sp. (type locality: East Falkland, Mt. Usborne). A key to the species of the genus is presented. A cladistic analysis of the species of Antarctobius, based on 25 characters from the external morphology, genitalia, and body vestiture, is undertaken. The resulting cladogram shows the following sequence: ((A. lacunosus (A. hyadesii, A. vulsus) (A. malvinensis (A. yefacel, A. bidentatus (A. rugirostris (A. abditus (A. germaini, A. falklandicus))))))).

Remaneicaris is a species-rich Neotropical monophyletic group, easily recognized by the synapomorphic position of the outer seta of the third exopodite of leg 4, localized at 2/3 of the outer margin. The genus, comprising 35 species in five monophyletic groups, plus R. ignotus and R. meyerabichi, retains an unusual set of plesiomorphic characters. Herein we supplement the descriptions of the species belonging to the Remaneicaris argentina-group, and describe a new species from the tropical forest of Southeast Mexico. The present study extends the geographic distribution of the genus, with the northernmost record until now being from El Salvador. The genus having hitherto been known from interstitial groundwater habitats, this is its first record in epigean semi-terrestrial habitats. Remaneicaris siankaan sp. nov. was found in phytotelmata (bromeliads), leaf litter, moist soil, permanent ponds (known locally as “aguadas”), and temporal and permanent wetlands (savannahs). The new species can be easily characterized by its finely pitted cuticle, the ε (epsilon)-shaped thumb of the male P3 and the bifid accessory spine with distal hyaline inner tip, which precedes the thumb. A new method for the 3D reconstruction of microcrustaceans is described.

Two Brassicaceae novelties are reported from Iran. Erysimum hezarense (Erysimeae) is described and illustrated as a newly discovered species. It resembles E. subulatum, E. laxiflorum and E. iraqense but can be readily distinguished by the indumentum of stem, leaves and pedicels; bicolor petals; and number of flowers on the main inflorescence. It is also separated geographically being restricted to Hezar mts. (prov. Kerman, South Iran) where none of the related species occurs. Because of the very limited distribution and high risk of its habit destruction, inclusion of E. hezarense into IUCN Red List with a status vulnerable (VU) is proposed. Besides, Rhammatophyllum gaudanense (Euclidieae) is reported from NE Iran representing the first record of the genus for the country. Contrary, the previous record of R. gaudanense from Afghanistan is considered doubtful and not confirmed. Detailed morphological description, illustration and synonymy of R. gaudanense is provided along with the key differences from the closely related taxa. Distribution maps for both E. hezarense and R. gaudanense are given.

A new legume species, Weberbauerella chilensis, from the Andean foothills in the Tarapacá region in Chile, is described and illustrated. This species represents the first record of the genus in Chile and the Southern Cone of South America and is the third species described for the genus. Weberbauerella chilensis resembles  W. brongnartioides from Peru, but differs primarily in its smaller size, fewer leaflets and habitat conditions.

A new species of Brethesiamyia (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) is described from Colombia, which represents the first record of the genus for the country. We described the species based on male, female, pupa, larva of third instar and gall morphology, which the larva induces on leaves of Myrcia sp. (Myrtaceae) from the foothills situated at the connection of the Andes and the Amazon basin from Colombia. The first description of the third larval instar is provided for the genus.

Benthic monitoring of the marine shallow bottoms off Menorca (Balearic Islands, western Mediterranean) has yielded several specimens of the leptostracan genus Paranebalia Claus, 1880. This finding constitutes the first report of the genus from European latitudes and the Mediterranean Sea and therefore the third leptostracan genus known from the Mediterranean. Specimens are described, illustrated and compared to other known species; they might represent a new species but their state of maturity and the lack of an appropriate diagnosis for the type species of the genus, Paranebalia longipes (Willemöes-Suhm, 1875), did not allow to confirm its taxonomic status.

The paper reports the first record of Trifolium patens Schreb. (≡ Сhrysaspis patens (Schreb.) Holub) (Fabaceae) for the flora of Caucasus from the territory of Azerbaij an Republic. The plant was collected in 1941 by A. Grossheim, and is stored in the Herbarium BAK. Morphological description of the species and characteristic of its habitat are given.
