Epiperipatusedwardsii(Blanchard, 1847) is redescribed based on fresh material collected near the type locality. Additionally, five new species of velvet worms of the genusEpiperipatusClark, 1913 from Brazil are described:Epiperipatushyperbolicussp. nov.,Epiperipatuslucernasp. nov.,Epiperipatustitanicussp. nov. (Holotypes deposited in MNRJ: Murici, Alagoas State),Epiperipatusbeckerisp. nov. (Holotype female deposited in MNRJ: Camacan, Bahia State) andEpiperipatusmarajoarasp. nov. (Holotype male deposited in MZUSP: Breves, Marajó island, Pará State). The peculiar shape of the primary papillae (artichoke-like) ofE.titanicussp. nov. andE.beckerisp. nov. is documented for the first time.Epiperipatustitanicussp. nov. has the largest number of pairs of oncopods (38 for males and 39 for females) among the Brazilian Onychophora. We also provide an identification key for Brazilian species ofEpiperipatus.

A New Species

A new species of Placospongia is described from Bahia State, Brazil. Placospongia giseleae sp. nov.. The specimen is found on the underside of rocks in shallow waters (0-20m), and is unique by having a spiculation consisting of two tylostyle categories, selenasters and acanthomicrorhabds. In addition, Placospongia ruetzleri, is recorded for the first time to Bahia state, 2.974 km southwards from its type locality, the Guyana shelf. The diversity of Placospongia species is raised from two to four taxa. An identification key for Western Atlantic Placospongia species is presented.

Aphelocheirus (s.str.) bruneiensis sp.n. from Brunei is described and illustrated; its type locality is described in detail. Aphelocheirus (s.str.) kinabalu Polhemus & Polhemus, 1989 is recorded from Sarawak for the first time. An identification key to the brachypterous morphs of the six species known from Borneo is presented. Digital photographs of the new species and three other rare species are provided.

Three new species of Otostigmus Porat, 1876 from Brazilian Atlantic Forest are described. Otostigmus beckeri sp. n. andO. lanceolatus sp. n. are described from the state of Bahia and O. giupponii sp. n. from the state of Espírito Santo. InBrazil, the otostigmine scolopendrid genus Otostigmus comprises 22 species. A summary of Brazilian Otostigmus speciesis presented with new distribution records, taxonomic remarks when appropriate and an identification key. Otostigmus sul-catus Meinert, 1886 is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the Andean Otostigmus silvestrii Kraepelin 1903, previouslyrecorded from Brazil, is here considered not to be present in this country. Eight nominal species are regarded here as newsynonyms. Five of them—Otostigmus pradoi Bücherl, 1939, O. longistigma Bücherl, 1939, O. longipes Bücherl, 1939,O. langei Bücherl, 1946 and O. dentifusus Bücherl, 1946—are based on females of O. tibialis Brölemann, 1902. O. latipesBücherl, 1954 is conspecific with and is considered a junior synonym of O. sulcatus Meinert, 1886; O. limbatus diminutusBücherl, 1946 is a junior synonym of O. limbatus Meinert, 1886 and O. fossulatus Attems, 1928 is a junior synonym of O. goeldii Brölemann, 1898. A lectotype is designated for O. goeldii.

A new Neotropical species of Pirhosigma Giordani Soika, 1978 is described, Pirhosigma transfluvium Ferreira & Oliveira. The male of Pirhosigma limpidum Giordani Soika, 1978 is reported for the first time. An illustrated identification key is presented for all currently recognized species of Pirhosigma.

The genus Morphostenophanes Pic, 1925 is redefined and revised. Seventeen new species and three new subspecies are described, including M. aenescens yelang Zhou, new subspecies, M. bannaensis Zhou, new species, M. brevigaster Zhou, new species, M. chongli Zhou, new species, M. crassus Zhou, new species, M. furvus Zhou, new species, M. furvus weishanus Zhou, new subspecies, M. gaoligongensis Zhou, new species, M. iridescens Zhou, new species, M. lincangensis Zhou, new species, M. linglong Zhou, new species, M. metallicus Zhou, new species, M. minor, Zhou, new species, M. planus Zhou, new species, M. purpurascens Zhou, new species, M. sinicus Zhou, new species, and M. yunnanus Zhou, new species from Yunnan, China; M. chongli glaber Zhou, new subspecies from Yunnan, China and North Vietnam; M. curvitibialis Zhou, new species from Guangxi, China, and M. luoxiaoshanus Zhou, new species from Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi, China. Two poorly known species, M. aenescens Pic, 1925 and M. vietnamicus Kaszab, 1980 are redescribed. Male of M. atavus (Kaszab, 1960) is described in detail. Misidentifications of M. aenescens Pic. 1925 and M. atavus (Kaszab, 1960) in previous works are corrected. Six species groups are proposed. A species catalog, identification key and distributional maps for the genus are given.

Dichotomius (Dichotomius) quadrilobatus new species (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae: Dichotomiini), from western Amazonia (Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) is described and its putative systematic position within the Dichotomius boreus species group is discussed. An updated identification key to the species of the Dichotomius boreus species group is provided. Additionally, Dichotomius (Selenocopris) fortepunctatus Luederwaldt, 1923 is recorded for the first time in Colombia.

The otocepheid oribatid mite genus Leptotocepheus Balogh, 1961 is recorded in the Australasian region for the first time. The taxonomic status of the genera Leptotocepheus Balogh, 1961 and Longocepheus Balogh & Mahunka,1966 is discussed, resulting in the recognition of Longocepheus as a subgenus (stat. nov.) of Leptotocepheus and the following recombinations: Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) australis (Balogh & Mahunka, 1966) comb. nov., Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) globosus (Grobler, 1995) comb. nov., Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) longus (Balogh, 1961) comb. nov., Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) youngai (Mahunka, 1984) comb. nov. A new species of Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) is described from New Zealand, Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) neozealandicus sp. nov., which differs from other species of the subgenus by the presence of short, slightly developed prodorsal costulae. Revised generic and subgeneric diagnoses, an identification key and distributions for the known taxa of Leptotocepheus are presented.

A New Species

A new amphipod species of the genus Elasmopus Costa, 1853 is described based on material collected from intertidal rocky shore, near the Suape Harbor, coast of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. The new species may be recognized by the propodus of gnathopod 2 suboval, slightly tapering distally, palmar margin not defined by a stout seta, spine, or palmar corner, with a subdistal blunt tubercle, posterior margin covered by a dense fringe of plumose setae, and posterior margin of basis of pereopod 7 castelloserrate. This is the ninety-fifth species of the genus Elasmopus described worldwide, the most diverse genus in the family Maeridae Krapp-Schickel, 2008, and the eighth species recorded from Brazilian waters. An identification key to Brazilian species of Elasmopusis also provided.

The Brazilian species of Bittacus Latreille (Mecoptera: Bittacidae) are reviewed and one new synonym is proposed (Thyridates willmanni Collucci & Amorin syn. n. of Bittacus diversinervis Souza Lopes & Mangabeira). Three new species are herein described: Bittacus cruzi sp. n. from Amazonas, Presidente Figueiredo and Manaus, B. ferreirai sp. n. from Bahia, Aracatu and B. varzeanus sp. n. from Amazonas, Tefé, bringing the current number of Bittacus species in Brazil to 18. Illustrations, comments, and distribution maps of each species are presented. An identification key to the Brazilian genera of Mecoptera and Bittacus species is also presented.
