Cloud computing environment is very much malicious intrusion prone hence cloud security is very vital. Existing network security mechanisms face new challenges in the cloud such as DDOS attacks, virtual machine intrusion attacks and malicious user activities. This chapter includes brief introduction about cloud computing, concept of virtualization, cloud security, various DDOS attacks, tools to run these attacks & various techniques to detect these attacks, review of threshold methods used for detection of DDOS attacks & abnormal network behavior and proposed dynamic threshold based algorithmic approach. Although various cloud security measures are prevailing to avoid virtual machine attacks and malicious user activities but these are not foolproof. Hence, new security methods are required to increase users' level of trust in clouds. By scrubbing traffic at major Internet points and backbone connection, a defense line is created for mitigation of DDOS attacks. Dynamic threshold algorithm based approach is proposed as a proactive approach to detect DDOS attacks for achieving secure cloud environment.

Abstract –Today Security issue is the topmost problem in the cloud computing environment. It leads to serious discomfort to the Governance and end-users. Numerous security solutions and policies are available however practically ineffective in use. Most of the security solutions are centered towards cloud technology and cloud service providers only and no consideration has been given to the Network, accessing, and device securities at the end-user level. The discomfort at the end-user level was left untreated. The security of the various public, private networks, variety of devices used by end-users, accessibility, and capacity of end-users is left untreated. This leads towards the strong need for the possible modification of the security architecture for data security at all levels and secured service delivery. This leads towards the strong need for the possible adaption of modified security measures and provisions, which shall provide secured hosting and service delivery at all levels and reduce the security gap between the cloud service providers and end-users. This paper investigates the study and analyze the security architecture in the Cloud environment of Govt. of India and suggest the modifications in the security architecture as per the changing scenario and to fulfill the future needs for the secured service delivery from central up to the end-user level. Keywords: Cloud Security, Security in GI Cloud, Cloud Security measures, Security Assessment in GI Cloud, Proposed Security for GI cloud

The objective of using threshold cryptography on cloud environment is to protect the keys, which are the most important elements in cryptographic systems. Threshold cryptography works by dividing the private key to a number of shares, according to the number of virtual machines, then distributing them each share to each virtual machine. In order to generate the key back, not all the shares are needed. Howerver, the problem is that there has been no research attemping to find a suitable threshold value for key reconstruction. Therefore, this paper presented a guildline designed and implemented that can assist to choose such value. The experiment was setup using CloudSim to simulate cloud environment and collecting time taken in key distribution and key reconstruction process to achieve the optimal threshold value.

Establishing identity has become very difficult in the vastly crowded cloud computing environment. The need for a trustworthy cloud authentication phenomenon has increased in the wake of heightened concerns about authentication and rapid advancements in cloud computing, database access, and Internet communication. Face recognition is a non-intrusive method, and facial characteristics are probably most common biometrics features used by humans to identify others. Authentication for cloud computing using face recognition is based on security issues related to data access and cloud database in a cloud. It can provide a satisfactory level of security measures to users and service providers, cloud consumers, and different organizations. In this chapter, the authors cover different research aspects related to cloud security.

Abstract Cloud computing is emerging as a significant new paradigm in the fields of Service-oriented computing, software engineering, etc. The paper aims to characterize the cloud environment and to study the cloud optimization problems. About 50 papers are collected from the standard journals, and it is first reviewed chronologically to find out the contributions in cloud security. After reviewing, the various challenges addressed in the cloud environment and its performance analysis is discussed. In the next section, the exploration of the meta-heuristic study of cloud optimization is done. The algorithms used in the cloud security challenges are discussed and reviewed. The algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) are exploited for the finding the cloud security problems. As the research outcome, case studies are taken and reviewed. Cloud computing is a vast field, and a lot of problems in it had to be addressed and solved.

Cloud computing is a highly demanding zone in the present IT enterprise. The key characteristics are adaptability, productivity, pay-per-utilize, and cost viability. Access control and information security are the significant issues in cloud computing. Various access control strategies are present. The major problems of storing data in expandable access control and access rights from users are not used in this scheme. This chapter presents a generic survey on scalable and secure access control systems and schemes in cloud computing with a key focus on cloud security. Research gaps in the existing literature on cloud security are presented.

Cloud computing is a technology where it provides software, platform, infrastructure, security and everything as a service. But this technology faces many security issues because all the data or information are stored in the hands of the third party. The cloud users unable to know where the data are store in the cloud environment and also it is very difficult to analyze the trustworthiness of the cloud service providers. In this technology providing security is a very big challenging task. This challenge was overcome by developing different cloud security algorithms using cryptographic techniques. Recently many researchers identified that if the cryptographic algorithms are combined in a hybrid manner it will increase the security in the cloud environment. Even though, many research works are still carried out to improve security in the cloud computing environment. In this research article, a new step was taken to develop a new cloud security algorithm
