The impact of examination software on student attitudes was investigated. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) provides the theoretical foundations for studying the completion of examination on student laptop computers. The model applies TAM to link both faculty and technical support for the examination software to student attitudes towards the software, while it is mediated by the perceived usefulness and ease of use of the software. The model is empirically tested using questionnaire responses from 107 students enrolled in sections of a business core course using the examination software. The statistical technique used is structural equations modeling. Empirical results show that perceived usefulness and ease of use of the software have direct, meaningful impacts on developing positive attitudes toward the software. Furthermore, faculty support and ease of system use impact student attitudes in a meaningful fashion indirectly through perceived usefulness. These empirical results are discussed and implications for instructors are offered.

Reports indicate that 49% of adults in India spend at least 2-3 hours consuming OTT media, rather than watching conventional television. With such changes in the way the general population is exposed to content, brands have also been adapting to the new patterns that this study investigates. This study was conducted to assess consumers’ attitudes and acceptance towards brand placement in the novel media format of web series based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This study, based on a survey of 278 individuals from Urban India settings, was conducted using a self-report questionnaire adapted from F Davis’s Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use and User Acceptance of TAM questionnaire (1989). The study supports TAM and recognizes that the frequency of viewing Web Series directly relates to brand recall (R = 0.57, p < .001). Product/brand placement yields brand awareness for unknown or unpopular brands and provide evidence for higher engagement with the placement when the audiences have pre-existing positive attitudes towards the brand (t (277) = 27.11, p = .01). This study also confirms that TAM as a relevant model can be applied to understand how regularity and duration of viewing affect attitudes towards brands and their placement in Web Series. Brand placement in Web Series is perceived as useful and largely determines brand name recall. Thus, marketers should strategically consider using brand placement in Web Series as a part of their marketing communication plan, especially as this media with other related forms of advertisement are important for brands to keep up with the industry’s communication challenges.

In this paper, I analyse the impact that a perceived lack of an installed base has on the adoption of technological products. I use the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which considers perceived usefulness and ease-of-use as the central drivers of adoption and propose that the perceived lack of an installed base influences these two drivers. Based on cue utilisation theory, I further suggest that a perceived lack of an installed base can serve as an extrinsic cue of product quality deficiencies and difficulties with obtaining help and advice. In order to verify the supposed effect of a perceived lack of an installed base, I survey 162 households. The data shows that a perceived lack of an installed base of thermal solar systems (1) decreases their perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use and (2) acts as a mediator of the perceived risk. The study implies that managers launching technical innovations should develop strategies to influence consumers' perceptions of the current and the future installed base and communicate the development of the installed base to trigger adoption.

This study explores the impact of perceived usefulness, perceived ease-of-use, and perceived risks of using electronic tax filing (e-Filing) on the intention to use e-Filing through a technology acceptance model framework. The theoretical foundation used in this study is the technology acceptance model (TAM) on 201 valid questionnaires completed by Indonesian taxpayers. The data collected was analyzed by structural equation modelling using SmartPLS (3.0 Version). The results of the study revealed that e-Filing’s perceived usefulness and risk were significantly associated with intention to use, while perceived ease-of-use did not have a significant effect. Although the influence of perceived risks significantly mediated the influence of perceived usefulness, it did not significantly mediate the influence of ease-of-use. Gender was found to significantly moderate the influence of e-Filing’s perceived usefulness, but not to moderate the influence of perceived ease-of-use. Importance-Performance Matrix Analysis (IPMA) finds that the intention to use e-Filing is most strongly influenced by its perceived usefulness and perceived risk. This implies that policymakers must highlight the perceived usefulness and communicate the perceived risks of e-Filing to ensure taxpayers are willing to use the system. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this study is the first to examine both mediation and moderation to analyze the adoption of technology in Indonesia’s taxation system and offer a policy perspective through IPMA.

This research investigates the impact of Hoftstede’s National Culture which mediated by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) on usage of emails among academician in Malaysian public universities. Data was collected by using survey questionnaires among 146 academic staff from two public universities in Malaysia. Path analysis was conducted using SmartPLS 2.0 to assess the usage of emails model. Study found that power distance (PD), uncertainty avoidance (UA) and collectivism (C) have negative impact on perceived ease of use (PEOU) of usage of emails. Study further discovered that PD, and C have negative influence on perceived usefulness (PU) of usage of emails. In addition, study found that masculinity (M) has no noteworthy impact on both PEOU and PU of usage of emails. Moreover, long-term orientation (LT) and Indulgence (I) were found to have noteworthy positive relationship with PEOU and PU on usage of emails. On technology acceptance model (TAM), PEOU and PU were found to have noteworthy positive impact on usage of emails (U) while PEOU has a noteworthy positive impact PU of usage of emails. This paper discusses the implications of these findings for future academic research and practice.

AbstractRecently, internet usage among elderly adults has been increasing and becoming more mainstream; with the ageing population in Taiwan, concerns over health are on the rise, and this is directly related to the products that people eat. The main objectives of this study were to develop an integrated extensibility model incorporating the technology acceptance model and to investigate the impact of health consciousness on elderly adults’ acceptance of technology in relation to traceability information websites in Taiwan. This study used structural equation modelling to analyse the data. The results revealed that elderly people with high health consciousness and high perceived usefulness had more positive attitudes towards products than those with low health consciousness and low perceived usefulness, and those with high health consciousness and high perceived ease of use had more positive attitudes than those with low health consciousness and low perceived ease of use in relation to the agricultural product traceability system.

This study explored the impact of political trust on the adoption of e-government services in China. The data for this study was generated through a research questionnaire instrument. The technology acceptance model (TAM) was used as the theoretical framework for the study while the analysis was done with SPSS. The results indicated that political trust is a significant predictor of the intention to use e-government services. The results also demonstrated that whilst political trust was not significant in predicting the perceived usefulness of e-government services, it was significant in determining the perceived ease of use of e-government services. In addition, this study has shown that political trust has a significant moderating effect on both the impact of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on the intention to use e-government services. The implications of these findings are discussed.

This chapter uses an extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model to analyze the customer acceptance of a new interactive information terminal for cooking recipes aimed at grocery shoppers. The results show that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment influence the customer acceptance of the terminal via direct and indirect effects. Furthermore, the impact of these variables depends on individual differences in experience of Information Technology and the relevance of the information content. These findings carry several management and research implications.

Technology has made life easier in today’s world. In addition, developments in technologies and communication have become commonplace for majority of people. Global telecommunication development has reduced distances around the globe, and made it easy for businesses to proliferate worldwide. This study explored the factors affecting the use of telecommunication services among customers through mobile phones. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been extensively used in the field of technology use but is lacking when it comes to factors that affect customers’ intention to use service as they focus more on technology. On the basis of review findings, there is a positive relationship between service quality, subjective norms, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of service and voluntariness moderates the relationship between subjective norms and intention to use service. These and other relationships are considered in the development of a Service Acceptance Model.
