Generic Object Oriented Enterprise Modeling Approach Utilizing a Strategic Abstraction Mechanism

A Generic Object-Oriented Enterprise Modeling Process (GOOEMP) is a set of partially ordered steps intended to reach the objective of building a fully integrated, dynamic, object-oriented model of the enterprise. An abstraction mechanism is proposed to enable this process. The process is generic because it applies to most types of enterprises. Enterprise models are the products developed from the process and these can be used by various stakeholders in an organization to: a) give them an understanding of the enterprise; b) design integrated information systems; c) respond to business changes by evolving their enterprise models and information systems in a coordinated and coherent manner; and d) enable the enterprise models built within a particular industry to be reused and applied to many other industries.

This chapter introduces the User Requirements Notation (URN) standardized formal methods and its joint use with Unified Modeling Language (UML) in enterprise modeling. It argues that the joint use of URN and UML can enhance enterprise models and co-evolve with enterprise engineering processes. URN combines goals and scenarios to help reasoning and to capture user requirements prior to detailed design. Furthermore, URN can be integrated partially or entirely into an existing business process modeling approach, without replace current ways of creating and analyzing models in order to be useful. Modelled in the UML, a URN model may be incorporated into the rest of a system’s UML design documentation, seamlessly linking the documentation for the requirements elicitation part of a project to the whole and an be fully integrated with the rest of the design documentation for a software system.

Printing service order information systems sometimes experience problems in completing running business processes including, frequent loss and inaccuracy in registering orders from customers, often also losing order data from customers, recording orders often experience errors, resulting inaccurate reporting of order data. A computerized ordering service information system will greatly help improve performance and accuracy in making reports on business processes running at a company. The existence of enterprise modeling of information systems ordering printing services with the TOGAF framework will be a method that greatly helps management make a decision that will synergize with the business process activities at the company. So that the objectives of the system can be achieved properly. The TOGAF framework can be a solution and will help to produce a system architecture design, a business process architecture, a technology architecture, a number of proposed business opportunity strategy proposals and an ongoing system change proposal.

This paper describes the development and new application of a text modeling process for identifying human factors topics, such as fatigue, workload, and distraction in aviation safety reports. Current approaches to identifying human factors topic representations in text data rely on manual review from subject matter experts. The implementation of a semi-supervised text modeling method overcomes the need for lengthy manual review through an initial extraction of pre-defined human factors topics, freeing time for focus on analyzing the information. This modeling approach allows analysts to use keywords to define topics of interest up front and influence the convergence of the model toward a result that reflects them, which provides an advantage over classic topic modeling approaches where domain knowledge is not integrated into the generation of derived topics. This paper includes a description of the modeling approach and rationale, data used, evaluation methods, challenges, and suggestions for future applications.
