Today’s network management is still dominated by the platform-centered paradigm based on client/server technologies. This centralized approach has drawbacks in scalability, reliability, efficiency and flexibility, and is unsuitable for large and heterogenerous networks. Modern networks require an open management architecture, which can provide standard interfaces for information sharing among management systems, has extensibility for handling change quickly, and has means to manage large networks. Emerging technologies such as Web-, CORBA-, and Mobile Agent-based technologies represent an excellent opportunity to solve these problems. In this chapter a new Web-based network management framework is proposed, which combines the strengths of these novel ways of managing networks and the results of a prototype implementation are discussed. Our preliminary results indicate that the integration of Web-, CORBA-, and Mobile Agent-based technologies within an Integrated Network Management System framework can dramatically improve the performance of the networked environment.

As configuration of network services is faced with wide-spread deployment problems requiring considerable human efforts and involvement, Mobile Agent based Network Management System become a central concern. Moreover, the recent developments in the area of mobile agent based network management and ever improving Java Programming language have provided important tools for designing Secure Mobile Agent based Network Management Protocol (SMAN). Again, a roaming agent on a network consumes significant network bandwidth which implies that their frequency and number must be regulated. In a sensitive and intelligent network where the Agent behaviour can be altered dynamically during the lifetime, the proposed system must be genuinely secure with less bandwidth overhead. So, it is necessary to design packet filtering and secure protocol using the modified multi-signcryption protocol for the purpose of efficiency.

With the expansion of Internet scale unceasingly, how to improve the scalability and high efficiency of network management system has become an important subject of internet network management. This paper first discusses the advantages and disadvantages of SNMP network management. Then it creates a dynamic and scalable network management framework by introducing mobile agent technology into the SNMP network management. The framework is simple and easy, and can ensure interoperability with SNMP.

With the rapid development of computer network, the network architecture is increasingly complicated; the scale of network extends continuously. Therefore, the functions and positions of the network management are also more and more important. The Web-Based network management, making users manage the network and system expediently and simply, combining Web technology and modern distributed network management technology, which can also be updated and customized easily to meet the different needs, is an important direction of the development of the network management technology in the future. This paper proposes an a SNMP-based Web network management system using B/S structure, which has features of flexible structure, easily extensible, user-friendly features and so on.
