It is almost impossible to perform academic activities, such as accessing study material or contacting lecturers and other teaching and learning processes, at an open distance learning institution without the use of computers and the internet. This article investigates and reports on the time taken by students with and without disabilities to complete certain tasks using the University of South Africa's learning management systems (LMS). The findings of the study indicate that the time taken by students with disabilities to finish tasks is much longer compared to the students without disabilities. The study established that well-developed e-learning platforms guarantee efficient and effective use by both students with and without disabilities. The study suggests that it is significant for all LMS stakeholders to be involved in the development of e-learning websites. This is to ensure that accessibility and usability of these websites are adhered to during the development of e-learning websites.

Electronic learning or online learning is a part of recent education which is dramatically used in universities all over the world. As well as the use and integration of e-learning is at the crucial stage in all developing countries. It is the most significant part of education that enhances and improves the educational system. This paper is to examine the hindrances that influence e-learning in Nigerian university system. In order to have an inclusive research, a case study research was performed in Evangel University, Akaeze, southeast of Nigeria. The paper demonstrates similar hindrances on country side. This research is a blend of questionnaires and interviews, the questionnaires was distributed to lecturers and an interview was conducted with management and information technology unit. Research had shown the use of e-learning in university education which has influenced effectively and efficiently the education system and that the University education in Nigeria is at the crucial stage of e-learning. Hence, some of the hindrances are avoiding unbeaten integration of e-learning. The aim of this research is to unravel the barriers that impede the integration of e-learning in universities in Nigeria. Nevertheless, e-learning has modified the teaching and learning approach but integration is faced with many challenges in Nigerian University.

Many colleges and universities in Vietnam have employed e-learning platforms in teaching English with the hope to better students’ English proficiency. Recently, e-learning programs such as DNTU-LMS and Canvas have been implemented at Dong Nai Technology University. With their features of flexibility and efficiency, they have been being used as crucial tools for teaching and learning in various faculties in the university especially during the widespread of Covid-19 pandemic. The present study aimed at identifying the views of the EFL learners from Faculty of Foreign Languages on the application of e-learning platform. A group of 100 EFL students was chosen randomly to participate in this study. Data was collected using questionnaire. After analyzing student’s responses, the results proved that the introduction of e-learning was effective. E-learning also stimulates students to learn English and brings them comfort and joy.

A Learning Management System (LMS) offers a set of tools for e-learning delivery and management. For institutions offering online or blended courses, an LMS has a profound impact on teaching and learning because it is the main technology used in higher education e-learning courses. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the potential role of information literacy (IL) within the changing context of the e-learning environment at the University of Jos in recent years. It focuses and emphasises the role of the University library in facilitating teaching and learning through the use of e-learning platforms in teaching information retrieval skills. The paper aims to identify gaps in students’ information skills that could be addressed through IL instruction. Design/methodology/approach – The study employed a case study research design while the methodology involved the administration of structured questionnaires to the two groups of respondents. Findings – Findings from the study provide useful insights to the skills challenges experienced by students and point to a need for effective collaboration between the library, faculty and management in order to promote a better approach to learning at the institution. Originality/value – By emphasising the role of the library, the paper contributes to previous studies on e-learning at the University and provides a basis for further research in this regard.

Studies show that Learning Management Systems at university level often are lacking necessary for teaching staff member features such as support of various didactical approaches, consideraion of different specifics of engineering disciplines, user-friendly interface. In this paper, a new recommender system aimed at teaching staff of engineering disciplines who wish to use E-Learning tools in their courses is proposed. The system will take into consideration the level of user experience, assess the elements of a teaching scenario and provide guidlines on the contents of the particular element with regards of the engineering specifics. As a result a lecturer should be able to create his E-Learning course that then will be running as a course within the university LMS. The novelty of the recommender system is that criteria used by the system are based on standards for engineering education in conjunction with the framework for pedagogical evaluation of Virtual Learning Environments.

Learning Management System (LMS) is a type of an e-learning system is one of the main infrastructural requirements that improves access to higher education for persons with disabilities. The primary aim of the research study[1] was to explore perceptions of students with disabilities regarding the use and accessibility of learning management systems and benefits and/or barriers in e-learning. Students mainly have negative experiences while attempting to enter university web-sites/libraries/LMSs because of the inadequate adaptation to the specific needs of students with disabilities. In countries that do not have a developed LMS, the prevalent mean of communication with professors is via e-mail, in those where there is a LMS, there is not a fully accessibility of entire content and services for students with special needs. This research defined the need for creation of an accessible LMS or adjusted already existing LMS with accessibility solutions such as: a text-to-speech engine for blind students, a mode with sign language support for deaf students and a mode which supports dyslexic.

This study aims to defining the uses of communicative and collaborative activities in learning process via Moodle platform, through a descriptive research. This platform is a kind of the learning management systems (LMS), it is specially designed to manage interactive electronic lessons, with the aim of supporting the learning process, whether hybrid learning (in Classroom and via platform) or completely virtual learning. In this research, we will focus on the most important uses and features it provides, as well as the contribution of the educational activities to creating new tools of communication between students and teachers and how to make learning process more interactive than classroom courses, so we describe and analyze in this study the most useful educational activities in Moodle platform (forum, chat, wiki, glossary, survey and database) and the different uses through the examples that we created.The most important results of this study are: The E-learning platforms Moodle provided an environment for active learning through communicative and collaborative activities that simulate the Learning process in the classroom. Indeed, these activities made it easier for teachers to follow the learners better than what is available in the classroom, and enabled their learning to be assessed better. Therefore, the challenge is how to design educational activities for achieving the objectives of the lessons in E-learning platforms.

In this article we provide a quantitative method to predict the acceptance of electronic learning resources by academic staff in a blended learning environment at the University of Zululand. Conceptually the study followed a positivist epistemological belief and deductive reasoning, but this article will also embrace the interpretive research paradigm to include the researchers’ insights on the results. Inferential statistics were used to predict the level of acceptance of e-learning and show the strengths and significances of the postulated Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model’s relationships. From the results, the majority of academic staff accepts the use of e-learning resources. The study concludes that UTAUT’s moderate accuracy and relevance could be improved by adopting contextualised socio-economic moderators relevant to the education sector rather than adopting those found to be significant in the financial sector of Venkatesh et al.’s (2003) study. The study’s recommendations would be firstly, to provide useful resources that will improve both teaching and learning, and secondly provide appropriate skills development and support for these resources. Another recommendation was the introduction of user policies to instill mandatory use of these resources by academic staff while concluding that the social influence relationship will strengthen with the increased interactions and relationships between management, academic and support staff.

E-learning is one of the fastest growing areas of the high technology development, especially in the academic environments. However, the instructor is a very important factor in the learning process, but the advantages of e-learning change the role which the instructor plays in this process. E-learning gives an opportunity to anyone to learn in a rapid and customised way. Nowadays, many learning management systems (LMSs) available in the marketplace offer electronic teaching and learning tools. Choosing the most appropriate LMS that fits the needs and requirements of instructor and the learner is one of the most confusing and difficult decisions to any educational institution. Accordingly, the need to a computer-based tool for getting help in taking such a decision is rising on. This paper offers a solution to this problem. It provides a description about a web-based decision support system named Easy Way to Evaluate LMS (EW-LMS). It has been developed by adopting multi-attribute decision-making algorithm in order to select the best LMS depending on the user needs.
