The aqueduct is one of large scale water conservancy project across river, which is the first level of anti-cracking structure with rigorous control of cracks. At present, the thermal analysis of aqueduct structure most borrows ideas from box-girder bridge structure without considering their difference. As the thermal stress of large-scale concrete structure during construction and operational process is redoubtable, the U-shaped model of a practical aqueduct of South-to-North Water Diversion is established to do the steady and transient thermal analyses. The result shows that the structure of U-shaped aqueduct is reasonable, it is not necessary to take special measures to control the temperature during the construction and operational process.

For projects, especially large-scale projects, due to the long time of project construction, the construction of the complexity of the geological conditions, sometimes inevitably lead to quality defects. How scientific and reasonable quality defects hidden works to take remedial measures, or effective correction to restore the loss of time, cost, quality, safety, become an important engineering problem. Some cracks, will not have a substantial impact on the project, you can take measures to deal with to ensure proper implementation of the project. The article takes the analysis of crack initiation and Treatment in the Suining two station project. There are a lot of reference in processing defects in the country's large projects.Statistical indicators from the implementation of the results, analysis shows that to achieve even better than the regulatory requirements, and achieved the expected results.

Taking South-to-North Water Diversion Bridge, a continuous composite box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs, as the engineering background, the cantilever beam end’s deflection calculation formulae considering shear deformation were deduced by using energy method. Comparing with finite-element analysis (FEA) values and measured values, the formulae which considered both concentrated force and uniform load have enough accuracy. Results show that, shear deformation’s proportion is more obvious in overall deflection of such box-girders which have smaller span ratio, and it’s more than 30%. For continuous composite box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs, contribution of shear deformation to overall deflection should not be ignored.

Structural rehabilitation is playing an increasingly important role in civil engineering owing to issues with aging infrastructure. In this context, a feasible inspection and monitoring system is needed to draw up effective structural rehabilitation projects. This article presents a case study of a real box girder bridge strengthened via external post-tensioning. With the aim of evaluating the strengthening project and the structural behavior changes, a large-scale strain sensing system containing four sensing areas was installed on the bridge before strengthening, and the static and dynamic strain distribution changes were recorded during annual inspections. The text focuses on discussing and comparing the variations of strain distribution across the bridge before and after strengthening, as well as the yearly changes the rehabilitated bridge has undergone. From the measured strain responses, we accurately determined that the rehabilitated bridge had undergone an unexpected reduction in its flexural stiffness as well as a torsion action. Moreover, finite element analysis results of three different damage models are discussed to understand the detailed cause for this.

The South-to-North Water Division Bridge is a prestressed concrete composite box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs constructed by cast-in-place cantilever method. Its modal shape and modal frequency were calculated during each cantilever construction stage. And the formula about the relation between length of cantilever and natural frequency was derived.

On the basis of summarizing the completed structural types of aqueduct both at home and abroad, combined with the structural design of Shuangji River drainage aqueduct in China South-to-north Water Transfer Project (SNETP), the aqueduct body structural form was selected. The analysis and discussion has been done with three typical structure forms of Shuangji River aqueduct, the two mechanical construction schemes by aqueduct-making machine and aqueduct-installing machine have been researched. The results show that the aqueduct with the character of large flow, big section, large loads and gentle gradient should be comprehensive analyzed on the mechanical behavior, construction scheme and construction cost to select the appropriate structural style for improving the quality and efficiency. The results provide valuable reference for designing the similar aqueduct.

BACKGROUND The ongoing coronavirus pandemic is an unprecedented global health crisis. Because large-scale behavior change has been critical to slowing the spread of the virus, understanding the mechanisms behind people’s decisions and behaviors to follow (or not) public health recommendations, is essential. OBJECTIVE In order to investigate one possible mechanism, we investigated the presence of the better-than-average effect. METHODS in 3066 individuals across Poland, Iran, and Kazakhstan. RESULTS Participants demonstrated clear the BTAE in all three countries. Furthermore, we found that the level of BTAE was a predictor of COVID-19 vaccination (declarative) claims. CONCLUSIONS These findings contribute to the growing literature on the role of cognitive biases on health behaviors, particularly during global health emergencies. We provide recommendations for public health communicators on how to address this bias to help ensure people adopt the behaviors that are critical to combatting the virus.

This paper investigates the thin-walled box girder bridges with large width-to-span ratios through both experimental and numerical studies. For the complexity of the bridge, different discrete models are presented in the analyzing of the longitudinal stiffened plate. In addition, a large-scale Plexiglas model is tested under different loading cases. The simplified simulation of the computation results compared well with the experimental results. It is illustrated that it is an effective method to predict properties of this kind of bridges.

An externally pre-stressed continuous box girder bridge is designed according to loading features of the continuous beam. The CFRP bars and steel strands are used to make two models for externally pre-stressed reinforcements at the supporting points. CFRP reinforcement area of Model 1 at the supporting point is 1/2 of steel strand externally pre-stressed reinforcements of model 2 at the supporting points. After the calculation, we can find that under effects of the same tension control stress and the external loads, mechanical effects of the continuous box girder bridges with CFRP bars can be equal to or better than performances of continuous box girder bridges with steel strands. They can provide references to applications of CFRP bar.
