Proportional – Integral – Derivatives control scheme is used to provide an efficient and quiet easier in control engineering applications. Most of the Conventional PID tuning methods are used in manually which is difficult and time consuming. Soft Computing Technique is used to overcome this problem by using Fuzzy logic technique. In this research focuses dynamic performance specification is such as rise time, settling time and peak over shoot. This paper proposes to compare conventional and non-conventional techniques and the result of this comparison, The non-conventional technique (Fuzzy logic) has optimal dynamic performance. The plant model is represented by the transfer function, is obtained by the system identification tool box.

In this paper, Genetic Algorithm (GA) method has been applied in the moisture control system for auto tuning (PID) parameters. Proportional – Integral – Derivatives control scheme is used to provide an efficient and quiet easier in control engineering applications. Most of the PID tuning methods are used as manually which is difficult and time consuming. Genetic Algorithm which leads to improve the efficiency of tuning of process. The proposed algorithm is used to tune the PID parameters and its performance has been compared with Fuzzy logic techniques.Compare to the fuzzy logic technique dynamic performance specfications such as rise time, peak time and peak overshoot optimal values produced by GA. The plant model represented by the transfer function is obtained by the system identification tool box.

Grid connected Wind energy conversion system uses power Electronic converters hardly in fixed speed systems except for reactive power compensation. This Power Electronic converter causes major electrical losses and affects power quality of the system. The quality of the voltage and current is also affected by sensitive loads which are used widely in most of Automated Industries and Research laboratories. Disturbances in waveforms occurs which results in harmonics. To improve such power quality problem of the system DVR which is based on fuzzy logic technique is introduced. The system is tested for conventional technique and also with fuzzy logic. The performance is investigated through MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The simulation results confirm the superior performance of the proposed DVR based fuzzy logic technique than conventional technique. The proposed system reduces harmonics as well as mitigates voltage sag/swell.

An unmanaged supply chain is not inherently stable. The bullwhip effect occurs when the demand order variability’s in the supply chain are amplified as they moved up the supply chain. Distorted information from one end of a supply chain to the other can lead to tremendous inefficiencies. In this paper it is shown that if the members of the supply chain share information with intelligent support technology, and agree on better and better soft computing technique on future sales for the upcoming period, then the bullwhip effect can be significantly reduced. This paper emphasizes on fuzzy logic technique and discusses its effect on reducing bullwhip effect. It is shown that with the application of the fuzzy logic, the multi-objective problems converted to a single one, which can be easily solved with the proposed methodology. It is also shown that linguistic values can be determined to assess vendors’ characteristics, in order to address, in an accurate way.

<p class="Default">The mainpurpose of Image enhancement is to process an image so that outcome is more appropriate than original image for definite application. The fuzzy logic isone of the soft computing techniques to enhance the images by eliminating uncertainty. In this paper efficient type2 fuzzy logic technique is used to get betterquality image. This method consists of two steps. In the First step fisher criterion function is useful to generate type1 fuzzy membership value. In the second step based on type1 membership value fuzzy rules are derived to enhance the image. The type2 fuzzy method is compared with type1 fuzzy. The table values and graphs provethat the proposed method gives better results compared with fuzzy type1 method.</p>

In transmission line, the series compensation is used to improve stability and increases the power transmission capacity. It generates sub synchronous resonance (SSR) at turbine-generator shaft due to the interaction between the series compensation and wind turbine system. To solve this, several methods have been presented. However, these provide less performance during contingency period. Therefore, to mitigate the SSR and also to improve the dynamic performance of hybrid wind and PV system connected with series compensated wind farms, the adaptive technique of the Black Widow Optimization algorithm based Fuzzy Logic Controller (BWO-FLC) with UPFC is proposed in this paper. Here, the objective function is solved optimally using BWO technique. Based on this, the Fuzzy Logic Controller is designed. The results proved that the proposed controller performs the mitigation of SSR. The damping ratios of proposed controller to mitigation of SSR are 0.0098, 0.0139, and 0.0195 for wind speed of 6, 8 and 10 m/s respectively.

PurposeProductivity improvement is key to sustainability performance improvements of organizations. In a real-world scenario, the nature of inputs and outputs is likely to be imprecise and vague, leading to complexity in comparing firms' efficiency measurements. Implementation of fuzzy-logic based measurement systems is a method for dealing with such cases. This paper presents a fuzzy weight objective function to solve Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) CCR model for measuring paper mills' performance in India for 15 years.Design/methodology/approachAn integrated methodology is proposed to solve DEA models having fuzzy weights. The fuzzy DEA methodology is an extended version of the DEA approach that researchers have used for performance measurement purposes in imprecise and vague scenarios. The ecological performance of the paper industry is evaluated, considering some desirable and undesirable outputs. The effect of non-discretionary input on the performance of a paper mill is also analyzed.FindingsAnalysis suggests that the productivity of the paper industry is improving consistently throughout the period. The comparative evaluation of methods suggests that a diverse cluster of DMUs and integration of DEA with the fuzzy logic increases the diversity in the efficiency score while DEA-DE imitates the results of CCR DEA.Originality/valueProposed a fuzzy DEA-based analytical framework for measuring the paper industry's ecological performance in an imprecise and vague scenario. The model is tested on data from the paper industry in a developing country context and comparative performance analysis using DEA, fuzzy DEA and DE algorithm is done.
