Use of renewable energy sources is an integral part of the concept developed for improving energy efficiency of buildings. This study is dedicated to the problem of solar power supply for the buildings under the conditions of high-density urban development. The article deals with an estimation method assigned to define impact of partial shadowing on the surfaces of photovoltaic modules with respect to an amount of electric power a solar power system generates.

Pre-school facilities are considered to be specific buildings in the matter of construction and renovation. Space-planning features in design for pre-school facilities create special conditions for solar power use to ensure heat and power supply. The article deals with estimation of incoming solar power in reference to the surfaces oriented in different cardinal directions under the weather conditions of the city of Saint-Petersburg (Russia) and the city of Nish (Serbia). A model of how to ensure power supply for a kindergarten of the city of Nish is presented on the basis of the calculations analysis. The cases with regard to completed projects designed to use renewable energy sources in order to supply pre-school facilities with energy in other weather conditions are given herein.

Abstract This paper presents characteristics and purposefulness of supporting the renewable energy sources (OZE) by means of energy stores. The main emphasis was placed on analysis of virtual energy stores available for implementation in Polish economy conditions. A role which management of Demand Side Response (DSR) may play in balancing Polish electric power system, is discussed. Implementation of such solutions together with conventional energy stores may significantly influence power supply safety by assuring continuity of electric power supply at an acceptable price. Involvement of electric power consumers (DSR) should be one of the basic solutions for power markets in Poland and Europe.

Purpose. Analysis of the problem of energy efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility of powerful energy associations with nonlinear loads and renewable energy sources. Finding promising ways to increase energy efficiency of power supply systems. Methodology. Mathematical modeling of electromagnetic compatibility. Findings. The analysis of the problem of energy efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility of powerful energy associations with nonlinear loads and renewable energy sources allows us to formulate the following provisions that determine the objectives of this study. A promising way to increase the energy efficiency of power supply systems is the introduction of refined methods of analysis and forecasting of electrical modes of industrial enterprises, as well as indicators of voltage quality and reliability of electrical equipment. Originality.  Although the problem of electromagnetic compatibility has been the subject of numerous domestic and foreign studies, it should be noted that most of these works consider the processes of generating electromagnetic interference in the electrical network without reference to the technological schedules of electrical equipment. Practical value.  One of the electromagnetic effects, which is manifested in the operation of frequency converters, are significant levels of interharmonics and higher harmonics, which are generated in the electrical network and contribute to the growth of electricity losses and reduce the service life of electrical equipment. However, the regularities connecting the parameters of the power system and the modes of powerful industrial converters have not been studied, and the substantiation of the parameters of a rational energy efficient mode of the power supply system, taking into account individual graphs of higher harmonics, has not been carried out until today.

Egypt is the most dynamically developing country in the region of North Africa. In the nearest future, it is expected to turn into the largest economy of Africa in terms of GDP measured by PPP and to overtake Nigeria. The leadership of Egypt considers accelerated development of the national energy complex, including electricity sector, as one of the main drivers of the economic growth. It will be based on the latest achievements of scientific and technological progress and new forms of attracting foreign direct investment, mainly concession agreements in the format of public-private partnership. This allows medium-sized companies to participate in the process of transnationalization that becomes one of its distinguishing features on the modern stage. The master plan for the development of the electric power industry until 2035 envisages the use of various traditional and renewable energy sources. It is planned to create a balanced electric power generation structure, overcoming the current bank tilt towards gasfired thermal power plants. It is expected that in the 2034/35 financial year coalfired power plants in Egypt will account for 34.0% of electricity generation, 19.4% for solar power plants (11.8% for photovoltaics and 7.6% for concentrated solar power), 19.4% for gas-fired power plants, 14.6% for wind power plants, 8.8% for nuclear power plants, 3.2% for hydro power plants and almost 0.6% for thermal power plants working on fuel oil. The objective of electricity sector’s development is the creation of an advanced branch of the economy, in which renewable energy sources and energy-efficient technologies play an important role, ensuring uninterrupted and reliable energy supply, as well as turning the country into a regional energy hub. All this will contribute not only to overcoming the crisis phenomena in the industry itself, observed since 2010s, but also to further change in the nature of the inclusion of the Egyptian economy in the system of the international division of labor, which has undergone significant changes over the past decades.
