Research on reliability of distribution network has very important meaning and function to ensure the quality of power supply. This paper introduces some basic concepts of reliability in distribution network, including distribution network reliability definition, task and index. The classical reliability evaluation method was reviewed, and focused on specific distribution network, an example analysis was given, and specific reliability evaluation indexes were calculated. Finally, the future development of distribution network reliability evaluation was made a simple prospect.

It is difficult to evaluate and analyze power supply reliability of large-scale medium voltage distribution network by detailed modeling method. The paper proposes a power supply reliability evaluation method of large-scale medium voltage distribution network, which is based on the network reliability characteristics model. Lines with similar structural characteristics are designated as one model. The reliability index of each mode can be represented by the typical lines. The assessment principle, process and the advantages of this method are elaborated. The medium voltage distribution network of Nanjing area is taken as an example to evaluate power supply reliability. And the results are compared with historical statistics. The result shows that the method can greatly reduce the workload and has high accuracy. It can be used to evaluate the reliability of large-scale medium voltage distribution network.

Abstract With the rapid development of power system, the distribution network structure is gradually mature and the connection situation is more complex. The traditional distribution network reliability calculation method can not accurately calculate the reliability index of complex distribution network. Based on the traditional simple power supply reliability evaluation method of radial distribution network, this paper completely considers the influence of circuit breaker, tie switch, branch line, standby transformer and other equipment, and puts forward an improved network equivalence method model. The model first treats the complex distribution system in layers, and then gradually equates it into a simple radial distribution network to calculate the reliability of the system. At the same time, this paper analyzes the distribution network with multi connection structure in a provincial capital city. The results show that this model simplifies the complexity of distribution system reliability calculation, improves the accuracy and speed of reliability calculation, and more truly reflects the reliability of actual distribution system.

Lyon, France has the opportunity to distribute in abundance a groundwater resource with a good quality for drinking water. However, the length and the complexity of the distribution network can lead to consumer complaints in some areas of the water distribution system. In order to improve the organoleptic quality of distributed water, the water supplier wants to get a better understanding of potential taste and odour formation and to succeed in controlling it. Since 2006, activities have been taken with targeted analyses and sensory evaluation of water, taking into account both the consumers' private networks and the citywide distribution network. The first results were focused on the occurrence of bromophenols along the water distribution system, the understanding of the mechanisms of formation of such compounds, as well as their incidence on taste-and-odour events at the consumer's home.

With regard to the problem that only single index has been used in assessment of reliability, a suitable comprehensive assessment method about reliability index of electromagnetic flowmeter was established, and Mean Time To First Failure(MTTFF), Mean Time Between Failure(MTBF) and equivalent failure rate(D) were selected as the standards of reliability evaluation for the electromagnetic flowmeter in this paper. Because many evaluation elements involved and failure information and evaluation indexes are fuzzy, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation based on entropy weight was introduced to quantify the qualitative evaluation indexes, and indexes weight were determined scientifically by using comprehensive evaluation obtained from combining a subjective expert’s evaluation weight with objective entropy weight. Two kinds of the domestically produced electromagnetic flowmeter were studied, the censored data obtained from the process of consumers’s use were analyzed, and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based on entropy weight was used to evaluate the indexes of reliability in two kinds of electromagnetic flowmeter comprehensively. The results show that the conclusion is consistent with the fact, the method can effectively solve the problem existed in current modeling, and evaluation of electromagnetic flowmeter reliability has great practical value in the application.

The fault management process consists of several sub-tasks: fault location, fault isolation and service restoration. This work presents an assessment and evaluation of the practical aspects of the Medium Voltage (MV) Fault Locator at the Portuguese Distribution System primary substation. Eighty samples of incidents occurred at different MV network with different characteristics in Portugal were used to determine the time saving on the restoration process as well as the improvement on the quality of services indices. An economical assessment based of the use of the MV Distribution Network Fault Locator available in the Portuguese Primary Substation was done and discussed.
