Design knowledge acquisition, representation and application are key technologies in computer-aided innovation design. It is an important way to improve the innovation capability and core competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises. The present state of the art of theories and tools of computer-aided product innovation design was presented, some key technologies and problems of the computer-aided product innovation design based on knowledge were summarized and analyzed. It was proposed that the ontology-based knowledge modeling based on design process was the base of computer-aided innovation design, The efficient and precise ontology matching method is seeked to efficiently support updating design knowledge by synthetically considering the concept semantics and concept hierarchy structure, and the knowledge association and concept semantic retrieval and reasoning can be better realized by taking into full consideration of semantic relationships of between design knowledges.

Patent is a key knowledge base for product innovation design. The current patent knowledge model and retrieving pattern can not supporting technology innovation sufficiently. TRIZ is a kind of innovation methodology based on patent analysis and there is a congenital relationship between them. Innovation design oriented patent model is researched based on inventive principles, standard solutions, effect and other TRIZ tools. As a Computer Aided Innovation system, Innovation Engine is introduced and developed. The effectiveness is proved by the conceptual design of Cotton Picker. The patent knowledge of cross domain is used successfully by Innovation Engine.

It is difficult for one enterprise to separately master all the knowledge related to its product innovation design. Aiming at this problem, open innovation is introduced to product design. Key technologies of product open innovation design based on knowledge are researched. Based on the ontology expression of internal innovation knowledge, external innovation knowledge and knowledge of innovation theory, open innovation design from function to structure is achieved by gradually indexing. Each functional structure is considered as a gene. Structure innovation design is optimized by cross evolution and variation evolution, achieving organic fusion internal and external innovative design knowledge.

Ontology, with the excellent concept hierarchy and appropriately supporting for logic reasoning, is the basis of knowledge modeling on the Semantic Web and the effective tool for semantic retrieval. This paper pays attention to the sports information management in WWW. Firstly, based on the domain ontology model, we build the sports ontology which has the character of wide-cover and small information granularity. Then this paper present the semantic retrieval system for sports information using SPARQL query language, which realizes the intelligent retrieval at semantic level according to the relations of “synonymy of”, “kind of” and “part of” between sports concepts. For the trend of exploding increase of sports information, this research has practical significance to some extent.

In this paper, we investigated the definition of product design knowledge, design knowledge origin characteristics and design knowledge formalized representation method, etc. We also established the methods to classify and represent the concept-design knowledge and developed an ontology-based model presenting the design knowledge as well as a model for modeling cycles. From the design knowledge management’s angle, design knowledge modeling approach is studied to support the design knowledge development, transfer and reuse for the construction machinery the knowledge modeling.

The control strategy is one of the key technologies of EPS system, and the assistance characteristic has great importance to the vehicle handiness and road feeling. Based on the EPS dynamic model, the curved assistance characteristic is designed. The curved assistance characteristic has the superiority to find the better balance between handiness and road feeling. The conceptual design model for mechanical product and its computer aided design are the important and focus problems. A mechanical product design process of FPBS model, function-principle-behavior-structure model, was put forward and discussed. The semantic relationships between the elements of FPBS model were studied to make foundation for the application of FPBS model. The operational demand of knowledge system for FPBS model was analyzed, and indicates the ontology can be applied effectively to knowledge system operation of FPBS model. Then, an ontology based FPBS model was established and a FPBS ontology model system was constructed. The experimental results indicate the model can be used in computer aided conceptual design for mechanical product effectively.

In this paper, we investigated the knowledge modeling and proposed an ontology description logic theory based on fuzzy interval in order to support the management and reuse of design knowledge. We also established the methods to classify and represent the concept-design knowledge and developed an ontology-based model presenting the design knowledge as well as a model for modeling cycles. We further applied these methods and models to develop a specific ontology-based design knowledge model and validated them in the management system of design knowledge for the construction machinery.
